Quote from: 63cpe on June 13, 2024, 01:25:57 PMOh Tom, what a coincidence. Via my girlfriend I heard a Dutch pop-up restaurant "de Maaltuinen" is doing a diner inspired by Laphroaig for Fathersday.

Nice, but have you seen what it costs? There'd better be two whole bottles of Laphroaig in that meal!

Quote from: PR19_Kit on June 13, 2024, 01:43:21 PMI'm looking forward to that Tom, is there, or will there be a build thread for it? I have one of those kits too, and have read awful reports of it's quality too.

No build thread I'm afraid. Probably would have been full of bleeps anyway if I would have to comment during the build.
It's a typical Airfix kit from their disaster years. Bad fit, bad molding, very low on details, thick plastic. And like I said a lot of ejection marks.
It would have had a functioning drop not, if you can get the parts to fit, but then if you drop the nose, you are looking into a void in the forward fuselage.

But it is big! It's almost finished but I haven't got a clue where to put it once it
White is almost done, now the engine nacelles in metalic and then the decals. Made my own custom KLM decals for it.
And I have to fill all cabin windows with clearfix. No cabin windows in the kit.

Thanks for the 'review' Tom, it sounds as bad as I feared! :(

I've got a whole load of upgrade bits for it, but I doubt they'll cover ejection marks! I'll dig it out when I get home the week after next and see if mines as bad as yours.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Particularly like the Kingdom of Bavaria 109 Tom, or more likely the thought re the Austro-Prussian War that's now forming in my brain  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Here is the Bavarian one in close-up.
Almost finished now....

Of course it is not a Bf-109E but a Messerschmitt M-38e.  ;D  ;D

That's looking really good Tom  and of course Messerschmitt were a Bavarian based company.  ;D

Mrs Z and I are on our holiday in Scotland at the moment so no modelling this week and next.
But I thought I'd send you a picture of the progress of the 109 collection.
A lot of the models are decalled and have their final semi-gloss coat.
They are now waiting for wheels and props.

Sorry for the bad quality photo but it's all I have at the moment.

Not much happening on the whisky side these two weeks either. Although I'm in Scotland, the prices here are between 1,5 and 2 times higher than in Holland so I'm abstaining at the moment. They say that's good for your liver.......

Shows you the amount of duty our Government (of any colour) charges us on all our spirits.

Well, that was a period without any modelling time. Just too much to do at work
But today I had a day off and was able to put in time at the bench.
Also hopefully Saturday and Sunday will be modelling days as well.

I'm busy working on my non-luftwaffe 109 series. Got 34 of the 97 finished now. Pictures will follow in a week or two.
Also working on some F-16s what-ifs. Three KLu F-16 in special markings and three display team F-16s (Red Arrows, Patrouille de France and Whisky Four)
And to complete the set two USAF special markings and a Luftwaffe F-16.
And not to forget the General Dynamics / Saab Light Delta fighter.......

I hope to have everything finished in time for Euro Scale Modelling on the 23rd of November (Our IPMS Nationals in Holland) but it will be close.
Perhaps (i can hope, can't I?) I will also have some what-if USAF Vietnam war attack aircraft finiahed

On the whisky side of life: Currently enjoying the Edradour 22 years old. Lovely sherry taste!
