General Dynamics / Saab F-16 Light Delta

In 1981 General Dynamics studied a strike version of the F-16 fighter. This lead to the F016XL which was tested by the USAF and in the end not proceeded with.
At the same time General Dynamics was looking for partners to develop the F-16 further. In combination with Saab, General Dynamics developed the F-16 Light Delta of F-16LD.
This combined the standard F-16 with a Saab VIggen look alike wing.

The F-16 was tested by the USAF and the Swedish Air Force. The USAF placed an order for 24 A series aircraft which were delivered and tested bu tin the  end both did not place any follow-on orders for the design and the testing was concluded in 1985.

Awesome whiff and story! I love that decal on the tail. It must have fun to put on.

I like that camo scheme very well

Looks good with the delta, good work.
It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep . Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That's come out really well Tom
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The dogs philosophy on life.
If you cant eat it hump it or fight it,
Pee on it and walk away!!

Very nice.
But what a lot of people don't know is that the information exchange was two-way. Saab received a good deal of information on the F-16's blended wing root aerodynamics and fly-by-wire systems, which would help them significantly in the development of the Gripen.
Cheers.

This is cool ..really like this 👌 😁
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The wing is at the back, so it will carry the weight.
