Just arrived, yet more phantomery. Hasegawa F-4F, nice looking kit, but as usual with Hasegawa, stingy with the payload options. Four flush fit Sparrows and five fuel tanks. You would have thought that they would have at lrast included the twin rails for the sidewinders. The 2 smaller tanks favour napalm tanks more than fuel tanks for some reason, as they are tiny for drop tanks. Decals are for Germany, and that's it. Other one is the Italeri F-4S, not a bad kit to build from what I remember, and it has sidewinders and twin rails for them included. Which is nice. I am going tk see if I can scratch bodge a gun for this one too, andnif succesfull, I will see about making one for the Revell F-4J.

IIRC Germany were the only users of the F-4F variant. It was a 'lightweight' version with less fuel capacity as I recall.

Thanks Kit, mine will be in Honduras air force service with a few modifications to it, notably engine upgrades and an IRST sensor fitted. Additional pylons could also be included too.

Those small 'tanks' as you called them were usually used as baggage pods. Twin sidewinder lauch rails! How many and of what type do you want? I think I may have a spare Gun or two from a couple of modern Airfix kits.

I might have bought a 1/72 Tarangus J32B/D/E without decal sheet for less than half its list price. As I'd under no circumstances whatsoever would paint it as the kit maker intended, that sheet is the least needed part of the entire kit, so I feel a bit blessed.

Baggage pods makes sense, cheers Alastair. I don't need any of the twin rails or sidwinders, but many thanks for the offer, much appreciated. It would of been nice for Hasegawa to include them that's all. The kit dates from 1987, so before they started getting stingy on ordnance

Didnt the F4F only carry winders, post cold war they were refitted and converted to carry AMRAAM, but have a feeling they were not fitted yo operate Sparrow. The twin racks are in the Air to Air weapons set that, most Hasegawa kits from that period onlyprovided tanks (think their retooled F14 tomcat started that trend)

Now you mention it I remember that that is absolutely correct. I don't remember if they had any air-to-air refuelling capability either.

Unexpectedly won a Valom 1:72 Heinkel He 119 V (What If Japan Version) at ev!lbay. We'll see what it becomes, maybe Luftwaffe recce aircraft with a fancy standard camouflage?

Magic, it's better than I thought it would be, but the best of luck masking that mind boggling canopy!  ;D

The kit only has 4 sparrows in it Geoff, and 3/5 fuel tanks. Mine when built, will carry aim 120's instead of the aim-7's, as part of it upgrade package.
