I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Scratchbuilt waterline model of USS Dunderberg, aka MN Rochambeau.  What makes her whiffy, is she's build with both casemate and turret.

Weren't those actually 42mm?

A Typhoon with Hurricane "S" pods in on my to-do list, to go with my spinning-discus-bomb equipped one.

According to Tony Williams (the "Flying Guns" guy) we're both wrong, and they were actually 47mm:

Can't think what they would have been origionaly developed for or from (that link doesn't work for me), but I'll see if I can find a couple of works I've got on the development of British artillery pieces from 1900. And yes I still prefer the written/printed word to the Net, I've gotten old

Cheers H that works.

Very interesting. Interestingly the photograph in Putnam's Hawker Aircraft is taken from a slightly different angle and is slightly clearer, but all marginal.

I may well look at a Tempest II armed with a pair of them now, it looks relatively easy to fabricate.
