Quote from: zenrat on October 18, 2024, 04:30:53 AMWhat's a pink sticker mean?

Quick bit of Google-fu tells me its a car that has failed the New Zealand equivalent of a MOT/DOT/DMV inspection as either unsafe or modified in such a manner as to not comply with modification rules.

Thanks Scoot.  I could have found that myself but I am inveterately bone idle.   ;)
Here they attach yellow stickers for basically the same reason.  Known as "Canaries".

Quote from: Rick Lowe on October 18, 2024, 12:39:34 PMThanks, Kerick - my Sister found it online somewhere and mentioned it, and there are a plethora of situations it's perfect for (and there are more and more of them every day, it seems... :banghead: )

Well thank your sister for us

Will do.

Having cooked and eaten a huuuuge brunch to feed visiting friends, and downed two glasses of champagne, i adjourned to my shed.  Not to nap it off (something which would have happened had i remained on the couch) but to make progress with whiffs and other models.

I modified the Commando turret i am fitting to the Staghound to take the pair of brass 50 cal barrels.  That was easy, drill a couple of holes.  What was slightly more tricky was assembling the barrels.  They consist of a turned brass barrel inside a perforated sleeve.  It would have been nice if the barrels had slid into the sleeves.  Their tolerances were slightly off and I had to sand down the barrels slightly to get them to fit.  Not much, but they wouldn't fit otherwise.

I painted the Eduard MiG 15 with Alclad Aluminium.

Now this is an odd photo.  While not super shiny the finish is, when viewed with the naked eye, better than it looks in the photo (phone camera, evening sunlight at a low angle).

Battle got flat cleared.  I also continued painting the crew.

1/35 French soldier figure got more painting.

LowLux got more weathering.  Specifically in the tub.  I want it to look like its been used hard carrying stuff which was dragged in and out wrecking the paint leaving it dirty with a little rust.

And Tinydyne progress.  But that's for elsewhere.

That's what I was thinking

Just two glasses.  With a meal of huge proportions.

Thanks Chris.
Looking at the pic I wish i'd filled and rescribed the ailerons.  That gap is huge.

The turret puts me in mind of that of the Sunderland or Roc... or the 2001 Monolith...  ;D

The ailerons... yeah, that's the reason I used a lot of styrene strip on my Lodestar wings & tailplanes...  :-\

It's the turret from an Airfix Blenheim Mk I.  Sitting that high means a 360ยบ field of fire.  I snapped the kit gun mounts off bending them to move the guns away from the gunner.

The ailerons will stay as they are as a pointer to the kits origins.  Same reason i left the crazy rivets.  This is how I used to build them back in the day - just my technique has improved a little.

Weapons load, wheels, and doors to go and then she's done.

I've been given a deadline for the Sea Witch by my Brother in Law (for who i am building it).  October 2025.  This is a good thing as I need targets or I just dither hopping between builds and everything takes ages (or gets put aside).  Having looked into ratline building tools I have a plan to speed up this part of the build.  No point in buying a specialist tool i'll never use again (No fully rigged tall ships in my future - never again!) but I can knock up something similar.

I now say exactly the same - but the one-and-only was for Mum, so what can you do? It's Mum...
