It's definitely green all right ✅️ 😊
This is looking better everytime I see it  ;D
The decals will really bring it to life I reckon.

I wish I had a little more heavy duty rotor blades. These look a little thin. As these are removable I can upgrade them in the future so no worries at this point.

Those Humbrol "Authentics" used to come in boxed sets for various Air Forces, Armies and historical periods, rather in the same way that Hataka do their sets now. They didn't last that long as an marketing idea, just a few years, but like all their enamels they were good paints. I still have a lot, but most of mine are from my wargamming era and are thus things like "ancient linen", "bronze", "British Scarlet" etc. They were alledgedly matched to official standards where such things were available, although I've no idea how accurate they were.

Mine still get used on the odd occaision and still work well

Most Humbrol Authtics tones were just re-badged "normal" paints, but there were some exclusive tones. I remember a "British Scarlet", IIRC a historic tone, and the infamous "Mauve" for violet IJN aircraft and Royal Navy WWII ships (IIRC the original Matchbox HMS Leander required it for the camouflage).

I'm not so sure about that. When they first came out I was helping in my mate Derek's LHS in Oxford, and the Authentics had quite a different texture to the standard enamels, they were almost all matt finishes and were much smoother and easier to apply.

It didn't take long before we were emptying out the sets and selling them separately though, everyone wanted more tins of Dark Green and Dark Earth etc,. once they'd run out of the ones they'd bought as sets!

Captain Canada

Green looks good to me. It does look like a faded bird that you'd see outside at a museum !

I just discovered this topic. Very good build. Looking at the first photos, in page 1, I liked the look with the open cockpit. Remembered me of the earliest versions of the Bell 47.
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Mate the thinner the rotors the better for quietness and speed.
They do suffer with less lift then wide blades so they just add more like the little bird which has five of em .
If you listen to a bird like the little bird (Hughes 530) it's a very quite chopper compared to a jet ranger or the good ol UH-1 😀

Nothing is quite as loud as a Huey.  ;D

I said nothing is quite as loud as a Huey!

I SAID, NOTHING IS - oh nevermind... :banghead:  ;)

Flew in a Huey a couple of times back in the 80's. Good old shake rattle and roll! I could have loaded up all my old paint and have had it well mixed by the end of the trip. Just can't beat that wop wop wop sound.
Controlled a live drop from the front seat of a Kiowa once. Nice ride and the pilot shacked the target. Blew the crap out of it. The Army chopper pilot was impressed.

I've added another coat of field green. Looks good.
A five bladed rotor would be cool. That will be a future project.
I've always heard the wop wop of the two bladed Huey was from the rotor tips approaching the speed of sound. The wop sound is the "sonic boom" of the rotor tips going by. That's why late model helicopters have swept tips or other designs.

Squirted on some Rustoleum clear. It changed the color but I think it can still be considered Marine green. It looks like the Humbrol is getting along with the Rustoleum so far. I'll have to make a note of this combo when I do the CH-46.

Tell me what you guys think.
