asleep.  I blame spell checker. Even though I didn't have my glasses on its still their fault.

We knew what you were saying. Lack of sleep has not been much of a problem for me, but it has and does happen to me. I did take a day off work as I had only a couple of hours of sleep the previous night and I drive to and from my work, not a good combination.

The clock changing for Summer Time gets me confused. My body says it's one time, the clocks say another and the sunrise confuses my sleeping pattern. I need 8+ hours sleep of a night and when I can't drop off it really messes the next day.
I even set my alarm clock for 8am this morning in case I overslept for my late shift.

Yeah, who thought up that silly idea in the first place? And WHY?  :-\

Lots of arguments as to why, but when it was abolished a few years back there were lots of complaints from the north of the country, particularly Scotland and after the trial period it was re-instated. It's something you don't really appreciate unless you are living in the far north.

Personally it's never bothered me.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

There are arguments here about making DST permanent, but frankly I'd rather standard time (the "fall back" the US does after Halloween) permanent.

Someone keeps turning the big light out!!

It is now that time of year when, unless I am home during the so-called " daytime," the curtains stay closed.

It's simply not worth the effort to open and close them for the amount of light I will see coming through the revealed windows.

I did manage to change the clock on my car dashboard before travelling home from work today. I have to remember to hold the relevant buttons to access the control menu for several seconds rather than just a couple of seconds as I normally do. Another annoying this is that the infotainment, their word, not mine, has its own clock which had a check box for DST. So why are the two not connected?

bought in during the first world war to maximize time factories could operate with daylight ( without messing other things up)

Remember, if the reality police ask you haven't seen us in ages!

The story I heard was Ben Franklin wanted to conserve candles. It's as good as any other.

But no matter what you do with the clock, there's still only the SAME amount of daylight!

Personally (in my capacity as a newly-arrived DFL denizen of the English south coats and ex-air traffic controller) I always consider the seasonal return to GMT/BST/ZULU as representing the restoration of temporal order after the unnatural chaos of BST/ALPHA.

And yes I've lived on Kintyre and experienced short daylight in winter and long lovely sunsets at 1045 p.m. in the summer.

Got to say it doesn't bother me much. I'm retired now so no big deal.

I kind of like the shift. In the autumn, the "earlier" daylight makes it more bearable to have to go up in the ungodly hours before time has reached any real value (09:00 vs 10:00) and in the spring, it's another extremely well needed sign that there's still hope, if faint, that reasonable climate will return.

I'm not fussed once it's done, but the changes (both ways) mess with my sleep for a fortnight as my body clock stubbornly refuses to adjust (no matter how long I keep my finger on my button).

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
