Took delivery of a 1/72 Hobbycraft CT-114 Tutor today. The kit looks really nice and it'll be almost RW as I intend to build it as a Canadian camouflaged traner/light attack aircraft, approximately as per the TWU Hawks or the Swedish Sk60B/C.

But that'll be something for the future, when I get a tad of Canadian mojo.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Quote from: The Wooksta! on October 25, 2024, 06:50:10 AMOffhand, I don't think Norway used any ex-German aircraft, which makes them unusual because everyone else did.

And Norwegian markings are not easy to get. I had a hell of a time when I was doing simple Spitfires.

I have a few ex-Heller F-84G decals. If they will be of any help, just let me know and PM me your address.

Ta for the offer but a Norwegian Bv 222 was never on the cards.  Having located the reference to the BMW 801 engined project, there's no change in span, just the number and placement of engines. Given that the leading edge is done as a cutout, replacing the kit engines is a lot easier.

My stash just grew with the addition of 3-4 more battleship kits.  :o
TAMIYA 1/350 Yamato
TAMIYA 1/350 modern 1980's USS New Jersey
TAMIYA 1/350 WWII USS Missouri (Recently bought from a vendor yesterday at a contest for $40. Great deal! No missing parts.)

I've already explained about the Yamato here:
https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=53317.0

For the New Jersey, that kit is a wreck of sorts. Some of the superstructure pieces got warped, or maybe I should say "melted". So building a normal New Jersey is out of the question. I got the kit from a friend at a contest back on Oct. 20th. He also gave me extra parts from a second New Jersey kit he had. (No spare superstructure pieces though. )
So not sure what I'm going to do with the kit and all the spare parts.

Then the USS Missouri kit I got yesterday was a lucky find.  ;D  Can't go wrong for $40. For this, I'm thinking of doing a future USS Kentucky BB-66 missile battleship project. If the Kentucky had been completed, there was a chance it could have ended up in a mid 1950's configuration with Talos/Terrier missile launchers (Pic below) replacing the aft Turret # 3. To the best of my knowledge, I've never seen anybody build a USS Kentucky or even a USS Illinois battleships. I'd really like to try.

Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

Steel Penguin

that would rely stand out    as most rebuilds are done for a lot more " modern" either 80/ 90s  or today...  so a historical whif would be ace

I've got a Fierce Dragon and a Mighty Dragon and a Gyrfalcon but not a Vigorous Dragon.

Good score.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Similar here, even though I plan to convert it into a (actually) proposed twin-engine attack variant with a pointed NASARR nose, but the also camouflaged - maybe warparound green/grey with black or white-less markings.

Had another win on trademe last night..scored  Tamiya 4-Track Crawler Educational Construction Series Toy for stupidity low price..less than half the shops price  ;D
No plans for it as such but for 25 bucks who cares

Looking much forward to that, Thomas. I think I'm too lazy to cut mine up, but it'll be fun to see the difference between my one-blower and your twin-blower.

Reading my bloody mind again Ratty ??
It's rude and totally uncalled for !! ..at least give me advanced notice next time
But yeah ..I originally thought of a full delta winged Lightning..the problem was finding a wing with a close enough size and shape..or at least a wing with close proportions which I could modify.
I was getting there..Mirage 2000 as a base ...but as the say our brains work I saw the Vigorous Dragon and click  ;D
It's cheap and has the goods 👌
This will be a rather fast build so expect to see it in the Polar GB

PR19_Kit

F-106 wings on a Lightning ought to be good size.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
