Was having similar thoughts, also thinking about Danelaw being applied to all of Anglo-Saxon England and that leading to greater co-operation between the two realms, inter-marriage, dual monarchies and then a Treaty of Union as per the English-Scottish one of 1706 ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Quote from: zenrat on October 29, 2024, 04:02:11 AMIceland and Greenland were Danish IIRC.
...
Greenland IS a self-governing entity within the constitutional monarchy of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Iceland is a little more complicated:
" internal struggles and civil strife of the Age of the Sturlungs led to the signing of the Old Covenant in 1262, which ended the Icelandic Commonwealth and brought Iceland under the Norwegian crown. Possession of Iceland passed from the Kingdom of Norway to the Kalmar Union in 1415, when the kingdoms of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden were united. After the break-up of the union in 1523, it remained a Norwegian dependency, as a part of Denmark–Norway. "

Somehow, Iceland ended up in the Danish side of things.

"In 1874, Denmark granted Iceland a constitution and limited home rule."

"The Danish–Icelandic Act of Union, an agreement with Denmark signed on 1 December 1918 and valid for 25 years, recognised Iceland as a fully sovereign and independent state in a personal union with Denmark."

"After the German occupation of Denmark on 9 April 1940, the Althing replaced the King with a regent and declared that the Icelandic government would take control of its own defence and foreign affairs. A month later, British armed forces conducted Operation Fork, the invasion and occupation of the country, violating Icelandic neutrality. In 1941, the Government of Iceland, friendly to Britain, invited the then-neutral United States to take over its defence so that Britain could use its troops elsewhere."

"Beginning on 20 May 1944, Icelanders voted in a four-day plebiscite on whether to terminate the personal union with Denmark, abolish the monarchy, and establish a republic. The vote was 97% to end the union, and 95% in favour of the new republican constitution"

Since my name is Harold, and one of my ancestors allegedly came over from France with William, I'm kinda conflicted about all this... :-\

Or more likely, the English Danes would "go native" in a few generations like the Normans did, then end up fighting endless wars in Denmark rather than France over who owned what.

I've got a Corsair idea from Ericr's latest.

Think PZL P11 on steroids with spatted skis.  Part of the My Skies the Free Wind Anime universe.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I have a solid pair of projects in mind for this. However I'm busy for most of next week, and then, since the Shelf Queen GB was partly my idea and I pushed for it hard, I really feel that I should do something for it, and it ends at the end of November (not December, as my faulty memory had it). So after next week, I'll finish something off first. Probably start the Polar Wars GB in early December.

Perhaps something could be done with the Norwegian Fulgur fighter.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I am thinking about a hovercraft sdkfz. 234 in winter camo which is used by the fashionable moon Nazis from IRON SKY after they established a new atmosphere on the moon in their polar war in 2400-2402 .
Or something like that .
