They're releasing the Bristol Superfreighter as a Vintage Classic:

https://uk.airfix.com/products/bristol-superfreighter-a05002v

It's saying "pre-order" on the general listing but "in stock" on the individual page at the moment: Airfix's wonderful website design at work again...
There's an unboxing video and it's not in stock then it's described as 2024 release, so it can't be too far from being in stock:

Got an idea for an "innovative" Vietnam gunship version but I'm not sure if I want to spend £25 on one...

EDIT: updated the Youtube link.

I'm inclined to agree. Kit is only one year younger than me and, £25 for what is a fairly crude and basic kit is, I think, stretching things a bit.
It can be built into a decent model (I've done it) but, it's a lot of effort. I'd prefer a military option myself.
I believe it's still the only game in town though in the one true scale. I'll wait and see if I can get one cheaper.

Wonder what the clear parts fit is like?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

It is for a Superfreighter, although Fly do several boxings of the short nose variant. The Fly kit will cost a lot more however, it's going for £60 on eBay.

I've got one in the stash, memory seems to recall 'average for its time', i.e. not great. I'll check the fit if I can find it.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

The fuselage windows are ok, although they aren't thick enough to fit flush with the surface, rather recessed. The flight deck canopy will probably cause much :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I had a go at creating a gunship version and I think that there's a slight gap in the cockpit canopy although this can be rectified with a bit of filing.
You can still get the Magna conversion sets and I think I have seen a vacform conversion set as well.
Makes a good donor for several whiffs.

Watched it.  Had one for years.  Even got a Magna conversion set to enable conversion into an A&AEE or TRE Mk 21.  But tempted by another for whiffery - what if Harold Wilson hadn't said no to UK involvement in Vietnam?  Transport, gunship, medevac, lots of options.

Wilson standing up against US pressure to get the UK involved in a pointless war is one of the high points of his otherwise dismal regime.  It was a matter of pride for him that no UK servicemen died during his time in office.

The NZ forces weren't as fortunate...
Apparently the US airbase commander was 'thrilled to bits' the first time one of our Freighters landed in its' shiny Silver and White scheme! ;D  ;D

By the next time, they were in standard SEA cam...

I have one of the old vac conversions and lots of 'Full Intentions', but time and space are precluding at the mo.
