Hi,
I started my build last nite.  Its a fairly simple kit, but its pretty nice for its age.  The only real short comings are its odd scale (1:77), its lack of interior, its kind of thick sprue attachment points, and a slight simplification of the tail wheel assembly that's fairly easy to clean up.

My plans areto paint it with a high visinility red fuselage and orange/yellow wings, horizontal tailplanes and maybe the main engines and landing gear struts.

Hopefully I'llget some more images up tomorrow.

Dude ya gotta love a tri motor and your choice of colours is going to need a sunglasses warning for brightness 🌞 😎 😄
Are you going to try and mount skies or something like that 🤔
1/77  :o.  a very odd scale .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Heh - nice one.

I've got a barely started Antarctic proejct that's partially based on Lovecraft.

It's a Land Rover, NOT a Jeep . Like a Jeep, but for gentlemen.

That goes back to the 'Fit the box' period of model kits. Thankfully we've got away from that silly idea now.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Yeah, now with some of the kits, the sprues won't fit back in the box, if you take them out... ;D

Hi,
I've been playing around with the paint forthe last day or so, and I'mhappy sofar with how everything is turning out. The kit did come with the Monogram patch (shown) and a couple explorers with a dog sled, so maybe if I have time I might try and add some additional external details.  Though, some of the Lovecraft monsters do freak me out a little  :-\

On the flipside though, shoggoths are really easy to model: whatever shape your ball of putty ends up in, it's automatically right...

Ia! Ia!  :o

This story really should have been made a movie.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Hi,
Sorry I haven't posted an update lately. Things are going well, but other than attaching the engine nacelles, I've mostly I've just been cleaning up the paint and trying toget the windows in,so that there isn'tmuch to show.  Hopefully in a few days I can permanently attach the wing and landing gear.

The other main thing Ihave to do is decide on the decals.  I bought some yellow lettering to try and spell out Miskatonic University on the aft fuselage sides.  For the wings I have the options of three different registration numbers from the kit as shown below (and I can rearrange the digits to some extent to make slightly different numbers if I want).  Two of these options are in Black and one is in Red.  In addition there are some black lettering that read "Byrd Antarctic Expedition" that I could trim and realign to just say "Antarctic Expedition".

I was thinking of putting the "Antarctic Expedition" decals on the top of the left wing and the bottom of the right one, with a registration numbers in their typical location on the top of the riht wing and bottom of the left one, but I'mnot sure if I should use the Red numbers or one of the Black numbers.  I was thinking that Red might look good on the yellow/orange wing, but I'm not sure if it would look odd with the Black "Antarctic Expdition" decalson the opposte wings.  I guess another option would be to buy some Red lettering decals and try and spell out "Antarctic Expedition in Red, but that's kind of a long string of letters to do, especially since I'm already going to try and spell out "Miskatonic University" twice on the fuselage :P

Regards

I'd go with Black on the wings, for contrast. And it gives you more options for registrations.
