Just ordered a bottle of Vallejo Deep Sky off eBay.  Apparently Xtracrylix did do it but it's since been deleted.

And that's annoying.

From Airfix:

1/72nd Scale Vintage Classics Bristol Superfreighter.

Would never have paid the £25 RRP for it, but Hobby Points and Club discount got it down to £16.

Looks pretty decent. The cockpit glazings seem to be a reasonable fit, possibly needing some shimming on the sills, but nothing too onerous.

Got a basic Revell Spitfire Mk V from Hobbycraft as I needed an early-ish Merlin (or two....) for a Whiff project. If the engine fits OK, I'll get another one.

Possibly? Definitely!

How many would you need?  I've a fair few kicking about.... I'll see what's in the airframe spares boxes.

Tbh, whilst it has a nice enough shape and a very nice cockpit, everything else - prop, undercarriage, canopy, radiator and oil cooler - are frankly terrible. It's an awful Vb too.

It was just the engine and prop that I wanted, but this one has no prop!!!!  :banghead:

The spinner and the little locking washer are on the sprue, but the prop itself is missing. How can that be?  :-\

I'm sure I can supply a prop or three too - 3 or four blade and if the former, De Havilland or Rotol?

Would single stage Merlins for Mosquito be an alternate option?  I have some iffy cast early ones plus a spare pair of Tamiya nacelles.

Mosquito Merlins might work better for the Whiff I'm thinking of, thanks.

And probably DH props in that case.

I'll do some digging in the Mosquito boxes over the weekend.

You'll have to use Mosquito props, erm De Havilland, as the boss backplates are a tad larger than Spitfire cowls.  The early ones have the saxophone exhausts.

Christmas came early at my house, and my treat to myself arrived today, in the form of a very nice 3D printed Armstrong Whitworth AW.169. Many thanks Stuart, I just hope I can do it the justice it deserves.

Hobby Tools Australia had a sale.  I received;

1 pack of evergreen sheet.  Paving in 4.7mm squares.  Ideal for 1/25 tiled walls and floors in my long stalled scratchbuilt Winebago.
1 pack of tread plate sheet.
1 pack of HO stairs.  For the future Sky Pirates airship build.  I have a growing collection of structural stuff for this.
1 pack of HO railings.  See above.
1 pack of HO banisters.  See above.
1 pack of evergreen strip 2mm x 4mm x 300mm.   To scratch up 1/25 car or 1/35 truck chassis rails and structural members..
1 bottle SMS black wash.  Not used this one before.  Want to try it out.  Is it better than what I make myself?
1 bottle each of SMS lacquer Olive Drab and Forest Green.  I've been painting armour with SMS flat lacquer paint and I like how it goes on.  This is expanding my palette beyond the four Auscam shades and the two odd RLM greys I got bundled with an ICM truck kit.

Took delivery of the Kits at war sheet I've been hunting for.  I just get the Mosquito bits I need, the rest goes back to Frank.  So I promised him an assembled Ventura I'll never finish.

It wwould have been a pair, but I've a photo of one in NMF post war with Type Ds which is quite appealing.

Oh, and a bottle of much needed Plasticweld.

They are an odd crowd. Some of their new tools are great, some are mediocre, and some are  :banghead:  Shame they haven't been to Telford for the last few years, always pleasant to chat to.

You mean the AZ/KP bunch?  Their Spitfires are generally good (the pre-2012 mouldings are a mixed bunch, their nice 9/16 kits are overshadowed by Sword and the superlative Eduard kits), the 109G/K/S199s are generally good (although being based on the Finemolds kits they should be, the F was apparently based on the Zvezda).  The He 162s are a bit Meh.
Avoid their P-51D as it's awful - Frank said he's abandoned the one he has as the fit is so awful.  He reckons they rushed it out to piss on Eduard's chips before their kit came out.  Having looked at the Eduard Mustang, it's clearly superior to every other P-51D yet, and that includes the Tamiya.  For less money, the Eduard weekend kit when it comes out will trump the competition.
