The Wooksta!

Don't know if it counts as new as I think I've had it for at least ten years, but I discovered an aftermarket Spitfire decal sheet in with a Legato Spitfire F.XIVe lowback.

I must have got it from Uncle Frank - it has one of his labels on it - but I have absolutely no memory of buying it at all.

The Wooksta!

The bottle of Vallejo Deep Sky arrived this morning and I'll be spraying it later.

I did order another bottle of Vallejo, this time a German Red for something I've been planning for years.

Quote from: The Wooksta! on November 15, 2024, 08:52:43 AMYou mean the AZ/KP bunch?  Their Spitfires are generally good (the pre-2012 mouldings are a mixed bunch, their nice 9/16 kits are overshadowed by Sword and the superlative Eduard kits), the 109G/K/S199s are generally good (although being based on the Finemolds kits they should be, the F was apparently based on the Zvezda).  The He 162s are a bit Meh.
Avoid their P-51D as it's awful - Frank said he's abandoned the one he has as the fit is so awful.  He reckons they rushed it out to piss on Eduard's chips before their kit came out.  Having looked at the Eduard Mustang, it's clearly superior to every other P-51D yet, and that includes the Tamiya.  For less money, the Eduard weekend kit when it comes out will trump the competition.

Yup, very much a mixed bunch. As you say their 109G/K's are lovely, as for the 162's ?  They are middling at best I'd say.

I want to pick up an Eduard P-51, after looking at yours in its box  ;D

Chris, I will be making an order direct from eduard in a couple of weeks, want me to order a P-51 overtree set for you at the same time?

Received today

1 x 1/72 Freightdog Hawker Hunter F.Mk.4 conversion set. I had meant to get one at Telford last week but completely forgot  :banghead:

also arrived today

1 x 1/72 Xtradecal X72059 TSR 2, Part 1
1 x 1/72 Xtradecal X72060 TSR 2, Part 2

Both of the above from NARSES2 and are in mint condition   Thank you very much indeed Chris.

I'm fine thanks Alastair. I might pick one up at the London show in a couple of weeks time, if there's one there, or possibly treat myself to the Royal Class kit as an early Crimbo present.

Glad the transfers got there ok, just glad they stand a chance of being used rather than sitting in my "Post 1945 transfers box"

Received this afternoon

1 x 1/72 Italeri 1462 Short Stirling Mk.III. The plan is to make it an ASW version operating in the Far East or I may use the Mk 1 in the stash.

The Wooksta!

They were too valuable in the transport role, being big and roomy inside.  Lancaster II much more likely.

There was a Lancaster MRII on the SIG stand at Telford, and very plausible it looked too.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I read somewhere that they were also considered for long-range anti-shipping which I like the idea of so that is what I intend to build, regardless of what happened in reality.

That was not the trigger for what I intend to do though, I had the idea before Telford

It was a very nice model though

It's one I've been toying with doing for years. Don't need to bother now.  Well, not in that scheme anyway.

I could swear that it is one of Kit's creations, once done for a group build here!
