Placeholder for an entry, possibly a double one.

I would have started this today, but I've got galloping toothache and can't focus on anything...

Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Got a nasty feeling this one's doomed: now I've had stomach trouble all week... :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Well, the nasty feeling turned out to be right. Stomach and heart problem lasted all through Christmas and only started to clear up this week. The stomach problem made it uncomfortable to sit hunched over my modelling table. I was harbouring fantasies of doing a last-minute speed run on at least one of the two kits involved, but I've just had another good look at them and ruled that out: neither of them is what you'd call "shake and bake".

This entry is offiically dead, I'm afraid. "Stillborn" would be more like it.

If anyone's interested, the two kits would have been a Valom Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer and an S&M Stalwart Mk.1 (straight windows), both in British Antarctic Survey service. The Twin Pioneer would have used decals from the S&M British Antarctic Aviation sheet that are intended for the real-life DHC Otters. Backstory is that single and twin Pioneers were used by them from the 1950s through to the 1970s before being replaced by Skyvans (which I've already modelled). The Stolly was loaned to them by Alvis for publicity purposes, in the same way they loaned one to BP for an expedition in Africa.

The Valom kit is typically Valom: butt joints with no location pins and vague instructions. Very far from unbuildable, but verry much in need of care and patience.
I've built an S&M Stolly before (my Space 1999 Moon Rover) and it's a pig to get the cab panels all aligned and filled, and there's be less room for error with this one since it's real-world in design.

The Wooksta!

There's an assembled Magna Twin Pin on eBay right now.  May be worth it for a quick finish and respray?

Had a look but no thanks: it's missing it's props, u/c legs and endplate fins. Be as much trouble to fix it up as build the Valom one.

Thanks for the thought though.
