Yep orange is a very common colour on the ice...sticks out like crazy on white snow and ice .
A real bright orange is the trick 👌
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Interestingly, 'International Orange' is more of a Red shade...

Then don't use international orange then  ;D  ;D  ;D
White undercoat..clear yellow over that and then the orange.
Or just use a automotive based spray paint ..there's tons of choices out there

True!

There is a very good Orange in the Model Master acrylic range... very translucent though; so multiple coats needed, over a White or Pink base.

Oh I forgot about model master paints ..their gloss colours are also very good...
Also Ammo and AK Interactive both do a very bright orange...both cover very nicely 👌

I guess I will go for orange, especially as I have more orange color left over here than red one.

More details have been added to the 3D model, and now we have some windows. Tricky part will be to build them, have to do a few experiments..

And of course a new test print with the FDM printer. This time I choose some orange filament to get a first impression how this color will be look like. But as the real model will be made with the resin printer and will be painted, the color tone will be a bit different.

I now made some resin test prints to find out what is the right number of support I have to use to print it. Using too much of it, makes it hard to remove and this can easily cause some damage. As it did. Usinf too few of them, the print might not work at all and it takes some time to prepare the printer for new prints.
And as I had two test prints, I painted one in red and one in orange. I like the orange one better.

Back to the 3D design, more smaller details have been added. Have to see if they are not too small to print.

Also I have to test if I can also make in inside of the snow tractor. So a first, simple test to see if I get the dimensions right and if it works at all.

It seems to work, so I can go and continue with this

Great stuff. Using the FDM as a prototype is working out well, takes some of the guess work out on how it will look in resin.

is the floor a 3D print as well ? So using the print grid as texture appears to work just fine

The FDM prints are much faster to make than the resin ones, therefore i use those for testing. And you do not have all this resin cleaning and curing to do which takes quite some time and is always a bit messy.

The floor is also a 3D print, but i think I will go for resin here as well for the final version as you can print more details. However, I still have to see about the windows, printing them with transparent Resin will not really be "transparent" at all, so I fear going this way, you will not see so much of the inside at all. Have to experiment a bit here.

Fascinating watching this come together.

Definately prefer the orange
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

That cab looks great! I'm looking forward to more of this.
