Why do I hear the theme music from Deliverance in my head reading that ?  ;)

Well a great weekend, I think the concensus was that it was one of the better shows of the last few years

Got what I was after, plus what others were after  ;D , and a few other bits and pieces as well.  Got a free chemistry lesson from Steel Penguin and we also discussed Newton's Laws of Gravity and how they apply to the outer planets in our system  ;)  On the other side of the coin we had an interesting conversation with a lovely lady from the colonies about his ear rings/chains and ask him about Michael Angelo and his Statue of David ?

Slightly tiring journey home even though all the connections were spot on, but was it worth it ? OF COURSE IT WAS   Indeed hotel is booked for next year.

December's SAM dropped through the letterbox with a thump this morning and a quick browse through revealed an interesting article desingned in particular with the "Old Farts Club" in mind. Plastic Model Companies That Time Almost Forgot - Hawk.

Some of the box art certainly stirred memories, and the "Beta -I : Atomic Powered Bomber XAB-1" with the sub title " what if kits sold well in the 50's"  is fantastic

Went to the rather dissapointing London Toy Soldier and Model Show yesterday with Dave and Nick,. It was more focused on the Toy Soldier side of things, although there were some really nice examples, Santa's Little Helper  , and some of the prices certainly put what we tend to complain about into context. As a consequence of the lack of traders I think it was the first show I've attended where I didn't buy a thing  :-\ .

Still after a couple of hours the three of us adjourned to a nearby hostelry for a few pints and an excellent lunch, I had the wonderful sausage and mash  , and a chance to chat and put the world to rights . I was able to update them on my recent experience of the current problems that seem to be engulfing our National Health Service, especialy when it comes to A&E waiting times. Overall a cracking day out despite the lack of traders and the weather. Cheers lads

One point of interest was that when I arrived Nick pointed out an example of the old Airfix 1/32 scale 17pdr anti-tank gun which was for sale at a traders directly opposite his clubs' stand, a kit I'd completely forgoten existed and one I don't think I've seen since it first came out. Anyway as is the way of these things at the other end of the venue another trader (there could only have been 8 trading kits at the most) had another example for sale. Rather like buses, you don't see one for ages and then a whole load come along

1)  Sorry to  hear it was disappointing as a show
2) Delighted to hear you managed to have a cracking time
3)  You don't see a bus for ages then lots come along??  They are running a convoy system and they've not had a single one torpedoed since they started the practice.

Well I've basically written this year off from a modelling point of view, output has been very poor to non existent  :-\  Many reasons, some of which are legitimate and others which are just me making excuses for myself.

Anyway I've decided 2025 will be a better year, everything crossed, and hopefully I might get some done in the first couple of weeks in Jan, but then I'm off for a week, so we shall see.

As an aside, and I should have put this in the "watched any good movies lately" thread, but I'm almost ashamed I watched it   Watched the second Downton Abbey film last night and thoroughly enjoyed it  ;D  I know it's not exactly challenging, but then sometimes we don't want to be challenged, all I'll say is that it's the ultimate feel good movie and certainly put me in a extremely happy mood

That would require Chris to be married ... or, at least, "partnered".
