Hah! They mean 'each wheel constantly trying to outpace each OTHER wheel!  ;D

I have one of the old Airfix polythene Stalwarts, and given the likely price of the new kit over here, that is very probably the one I will be going with.
It's still in its box (though completed, as it's second-hand) and I'm not likely to do anything with it in the foreseeable future.
One day, though...

OTOH, I suppose my estate could get a bit of coin for it...

Count me in on the estate sale Rick 😆 😆
I'll have to wait a frickin long time for the sale  tho  ;)
The cost of the new stollie here has already crossed my mind and the word gulp comes to mind .
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

The Stollie is £40 in the UK.

Ordered the new 1/48 (with apologies to my fellow UK members  ) Lysander direct from Airfix yesterday. Got it for nigh on half price what with my club discount/points etc
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I look forward to seeing that built up Chris.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Likewise - we do expect pics in due course, Chris.

Meanwhile I'm going to start looking for a first boxing of the 1/48 Anson - my Uncle Charlie flew once or twice in the Charlottetown machine.

Airfix were at the Bolton Show today, with built-up examples of the Stolly, the SLS and various other 1/48th things. I piad omst attnetion to the Stolly and the SLS, and they both looks good. Had a long natter with the Airfix guy about rockets in general.

Quote from: Beermonster58 on January 14, 2025, 08:43:26 AMQuelle surprise! Yet more bloody Spitfires and, once again the 1/48 mafia is favoured.
Virtually nothing new (other than the Wessex) in 1/72 except rehashes of rehashes of rehashes of kits a lot of us will already have.

Personal view only but  I think it's a miserable line up with absolutely nothing to tempt me to part with cash. I certainly don't need any of the reissues.

Another triumph of hype over substance. Que Sera! Sera! My money goes elsewhere this year.

I'm not an Airfix builder. But if I were, I'd probably agree with most of your comments. The lineup is just more of the "same old, same old" stuff.
What is it with the Spitfire? I get it that it was an important plane that has a very distinguished history and all. But don't you Brits ever get tired of seeing another Spitfire after another Spitfire after another Spitfire, etc., etc., etc. being constantly released every so often? I guess Airfix won't be satisfied until they've released all 1,374,922 (and still counting  ;D  ) variants of the Spitfire with every camouflage paint scheme and decal marking ever seen for the aircraft.

PLENTY of us Brits get tired of it.

Plot Twist: The Wooksta is secretly Airfix's Head Of Product Strategy. Once they've issued every Spitfire variant ever, they're going to start on the DH Hornets.... ;)

Had to laugh at this on an email from Jadlam Toys and Models!

Weird, I saw it in my original post, but in your quote I get an error message.

I've re-posted it and it's visible in your quote now, can you see it?

Bugger, now I've posted it it's gone from the quote again, saying 'Not a valid attachment ID'.  Not sure how to fix it.

Well, I've seen it now, one way or another. ;D

The Tr.9 is a pretty left-field Spitfire variant, so people who are otherwise "Spitfired out" may still want one. Also, I've heard a bit of grumbling, that surprised me to be honest, about the Wessex, either about it being an RAF variant rather than an RN one, and/or something to do with the colour scheme(s). I'm pretty confident that Airfix have enough brain cells to rub together to make the tooling adaptable for a future RN version, so that doesn't bother me, and of course, we can always what-if it.
