Using paint markers for detailing models?

Want to get some opinions on the following.
Has anyone used paint markers to paint/detail models?
If so, how good or bad did that work out for you?
And if you did use paint markers, what brands or types (Oil based or Acrylic) would be good to use or not use? What works best?
I was thinking of using paint markers to paint the larger white and yellow flight deck landing lines on my aircraft carrier since I don't own an airbrush.
Sample picture below.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.
My modeling philosophy is: Don't build what everyone else has done. Build instead what nobody has seen or done before.

I haven't tried them yet so this will be interesting for me also. All I've seen so far seems to be very positive.

I have used them for years, and they keep getting better and better.

I used acrylic markers for the deck markings and lines on all three of these WHIF 1/700 scale aircraft carriers. All of these decks are weathered if you see inconsistencies in the lines.  They will look even better in your preferred 1/350 scale.

I have found that there is too much bleed through with trying to use tape to do the lines.  Best bet is to take a big gulp of courage and just run the pen down the side of a strong steel ruler.  One long stroke at a time, do not go too slow.  Practice on scrap.

They are better on lines than on large areas, as you will see some lines/pen strokes.  Especially true of white over a dark deck surface.

They look excellent Dave.

Is that a non-ski-jump Invincible Class in the rear?

AK Interactive paint pens ..ive brought a pile of em ..11 of em and I'm sold ...super easy to work with and damn nice covering with all the colours apart from the light ones ..but that's the same with all light colours really but here's a difference..I used the white one for the propeller tips on the Ventura..two hits within 5mins of each coat and solid white 👌
They are acrylic which makes mistakes easy to clean up.
The metallics are very very nice 😊
I'm gonna get the entire collection of colours 😍
These pens are well worth a go and there only 5 bucks here so they'll be cheap to in your neck of the woods
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Once used a silver felt-tip pen. Very passable results.
Cheers.

Tried them.  I prefer a brush.

I have some SMS weathering paint pens which work well and I would use if the colours were right.  They are rust shades but are IMO not red enough and look more like mud or dirt.

When building models of modern cars I like to use a permanent marker to colour the black areas they have around the edges of the glass.  I also use one to draw the rubber seal around the window openings on older cars.

Yes, that was of course the Invincible that was being towed to the breakers but the tow was lost and she was claimed by a group of Argentinian scrap merchants and later outfitted for the Argentine Navy as a minimally angled deck aircraft carrier.  Employed Super Entendards, A-4's and S-3 Turbo Trackers.

I have the full thread somewhere....

I have come to love a black acrylic pen (Edding)to create rubber seals on car window models, or create similar "edge markings". The felt tip is great for such a task. And there is nice silver lacquer pen from Edding, too, that leaves an almost chrome-like finish - great to lay out lamps or hydraulic pistons, if you can reach the, well with the rather stubby pen.

I have a couple of Molotow Chrome Pens but find I get better results if I transfer the chrome ink onto a brush and use that.

That's interesting to note, I'll give it a try.

I LOVED the finish the Molotov Chrome pen gave to my Rolls Royce V12 prototype.

Molotow sells a chrome refill bottle. It doesn't dry out (like the pens) and can last forever as long as you're not chroming a 1/350 battleship. The paint can be removed with Isopropyl or denatured alcohol (methylated spirits)

That is proving very hard to find locally.  Everyone seems to be constantly out of stock.
