The wheels are on and the bottom is covered

The sidepods are covered as well as is part of the top.

Closing the top cannot happen before the tracks are on as they need to be get the right tension at the top.

What might be a real but wiffy at the same time is the camo used on the A7V ..it looks great on that monster armoured box ..it would look pretty wicked on the K Wagon .

Are you using flexible or workable tracks? Then as long as you can slide them through, you can put them in later. For two of the three AFV Club Churchill tanks I built, I made only enough track for the part that shows, tied the ends together with thread and then turned them far enough that the thread is out of sight. This let me fit the track guards before painting, yet still have the tracks on tight.

On this side it's pretty short because most of the track guard is missing, but on the other there is a much longer gap in the track.

And any spare track links can be stuck on somewhere as extra armour.

Jakko

Exactly :) If you build three Churchills with full track guards, you only need two sets of track for them — each side needs around 50 links instead of the 72 or 73 that AFV Club tells you do, so you'll have a third of the links left.

Perfect for that Canadian Sherman Firefly... ;)

Jakko

You need about two full sets of Sherman tracks for most British, Canadian or Polish Shermans in 1945: one for around the wheels, the other as extra armour :)

I was referring to the shot of a Canadian Firefly with Churchill track as added armour.

I must finish my conversion of that, one day...

Strictly speaking, WWI colours aren't specifically known, so there's lots of wiggle room for painting it however you feel. As well as A7Vs, pictures of Mk.IV/V Beutepanzers will give you lots of options for patterns, there's a lot of individuality.

Saying that about the colours, several autochrome images have come up showing real colour. One thing to bear in mind was the beutepanzers may have used some of the base colour of the Mk.IVs.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Mossie

There's also colour images of the A7V that finished it's days at the Aberdeen ranges in the US. Some of the colours roughly correspond, despite being left in the open for many years.
