1/76 IDF 155mm SPG Ro'em **Real World**

A real-world conversion on the Sherman chassis.
The Casemate was manufactured to a standard size, hence the piece of hull protruding at the rear, on those vehicles based on the long-hull Shermans.
There was a photo of the prototype in an old International Defense Review magazine, which looked interesting; I then found an early set of plans in an old Military Modelling Annual, which is what I started with.

Based on a Matchbox Firefly because I wanted a long hull version, with the complete lower side pieces taken from the Matchbox M-40 for the HVSS running gear, and glued directly to the Firefly sides.
I could have just used the M-40 hull, but by the time I'd thought of it the conversion was pretty far advanced.
Also, I was going to use the rear of the Firefly hull and save myself some work; I ended up cladding over it anyway, so I could have scratchbuilt it in the first place; but ah well, next time.

The upper box is plastic sheet with various details scratched up.

The gun is a Minitanks mount with a sprue barrel.
The cutout in the hull roof proved quite problematic as to how it was actually shaped, but I eventually found a site on the net with a slew of walkaround shots, which also helped with all the small details.

Spare wheels are, IIRC, Panzer 4 as I didn't have any more HVSS units to hand.

Paint is from the same Xtracolour IDF Sinai Grey tin as the other IDF stuff I've built.

Spares box registration from an old RIKO sheet.

I admire your ability with this small scall armour

Old Wombat

I don't think I've built any small-scale armour since I was 18, & discovered 1/35 scale.

You're smashing it, Rick! Well done!

Beautiful work mate ..I love my SPGs and wanted a 35th version of this system for yrs ...so glad yours has refreshed my want 😌 ☺️ 😊
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Thanks all, much appreciated.

Mainly it comes from trying my hand at wargaming in my Yoof (I was... not very good at it...), and as the stuff was cheapish/er, that was the way I went when I segued into building for display.
I have a relative plethora of old kits to hand so, whilst still enjoying 1/35, I figure these things should get built/finished... and space is a concern as well.
So I decided on 35th for the favourites/cool stuff and 76-72 for the rest that didn't quite make the cut for the larger scale, or was just too darn expensive/not available.

Phill, I can probably scare up the references & plans I used - PM me if interested.

Specially at Kits' request...

1/144 B-29 variation **What If (no, really?!) **

Using the Avro 6-engined design as inspiration, I was looking for a quick and easy conversion for a model display.
I found one of the New Ray 1/144 snap kits and used that, as anything else was likely to be larger, more expensive and more work than it warranted.
I didn't have time or the resources to make another 2 engines, so despite my intent and desire, it stayed as a 4-engine design.

I passed a rod through the side blister window locations as a leading edge spar and mounted the wings to that.
The tailplanes needed a little work to mount them but filler did its' job there, as well as at the new and former wing root areas.

I think the paint was brushed, and the engine green is GW, but I didn't take any notes and the info has been lost in my Black Hole(tm) Memory System.
Black wash.

Spares box markings, it seems they are the Airfix Mosquito ones; thanks Scalemates, I'd forgotten.

I like that a LOT Rick!

It'd have made a lot of sense in the RW too, with one BIG bomb bay instead of two smaller ones.

Cheers, Kit.

Yeah, maybe they could have used them to carry Tallboys or Grand Slams to Japan...

NARSES2

That actually looks "right"

They did carry them, but not to Japan.

And I think I've seen a pic somewhere of a B-29 carrying TWO Grand Slams, one under each wing root.  :o  Quite how long it took to take-off wasn't revealed.........

How long?........measured in miles, or possibly hours......
