Exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of!  ;D

Reactor and steam turbo-generators occupying the middle 2/3rd of the bus's length, control room with three techies over the driver to run it, driver and clippie in full silver radiation suits, and six passengers upstairs at the back behind four feet of lead shielding. Passengers get dosimeter badges with their tickets as they board and aren't allowed to get off until they've been checked by the clippie.
Don't forget the 10 or more axles it would need to support the weight ..there are load limits on English roads 😆

Have none of you watched The Big Bus?

A marvellous movie which ridicules the disaster genre.  Think Flying High (Airplane) on wheels.
It revolves around the maiden voyage of a nuclear powered bus from New York to Denver.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Clippies could have done with protective suits given some of the things that could be found underneath the rear seats of the last No 68 home on a Saturday night  ;)

Hmm, yes, but a bit on the large side for London streets, which is the area I was thinking of using one.  ;D

Actually, I didn't think that one was too terrible - I've certainly perpetrated worse... ;)

I'm going to have to hunt down that movie now... it feels like time for some non-polyticks-generated loonery.

Reminds me of the bendy buses they tried around Southampton. Now there was a bad idea....

I may have mis-read, but can real world things like jet powered railway engines or the gas turbine powered Rover be included?

Jet powered railway engines are anything BUT a Bad Idea, I worked on one for nine years!  ;D

Oh really? I was of the understanding they were not efficient enough? That and a tendency to dislodge the decades of soot on station canopies onto unsuspecting passengers  ;D

Maybe it was just the ones used in the UK.

PR19_Kit

They weren't, or the one that I worked on wasn't.

When the 1973 fuel crisis erupted it killed the gas turbine engined part of the project dead as the fuel consumption was so bad, even with added heat exchangers. They continued with a 25 kV electric version but even that got cancelled some years later.

The gas turbine one did manage 152.3 mph though, and did a 100 mile journey in less than an hour.  ;D And I was aboard on both occasions too.

It's doing about 130 in this pic.

Weren't there jet engines mounted on hover or air effect rail experiments done in Germany or France??
I know some of the test rail structures and track are still there .
