I can't remember when the stargate was meant to have been found in the movie, but the finding would require new characters (or Indiana Jones, as shown here), as it has been in the process of being studied & re-activated for decades in the film.

However a 3-way mash-up of Stargate, The Mummy (Brendan Fraser/Rachel Weisz version)* & Indiana Jones would be awesome!

Karloff's Imhotep/Ardath Bey is creepier and more insidious and cunning than Vosloo's scenery chewer. It's easy to see him making common cause with the Nazis.
