Thanks for this update, Chris. It's perhaps more encouraging than you think. Having always been a mediocre builder at best, many of the builds displayed across the interwebz have generally been more of a hindrance than an inspiration to me, but seeing someone else, and someone you really appreciate, actually giving f*&k all to all of that, rather focusing on their own entertainment is exactly what I need. Now and every day. And maybe even more so given the end of our civilisation unfolding on an hourly basis.

Well. Hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy at least a part of our respective stashes before they get deemed politically incorrect, and with that, I shall try return to arming my SAAB's. Or painting my Greeks. Or just building something entirely new.

I only have two rules when it comes to modelling "Do it my way!" and "Have fun!"

There is no Rule 1 or Rule 2, as they're interchangeable in order, so, maybe, it would be better to say I have one rule;

"Have fun doing it my way!" ;D

Good news, Chris.  Which Zero kit?

It's the Tamiya Pearl Harbour period one Dave and a superb build. Only issue is that the tooling/engineering tolerances are so good that if you get the merest hint of paint on any joining parts then you've got a problem.

Still, got the last bits fixed this morning, thanks to that wonderful invention "Superglue"   so transfers at the weekend.

Being a cheapskate I'm building the Airfix rendition of AI-102.  Having had a peep at the Tamiya Pearl Harbor boxing I'm struck by the surprising similarity between the Airfix and Tamiya kit breakdown and instructions.

Interesting. My Airfix one is the A6M2B boxing, bought in Modelzone, lawd knows how long ago for £5.99, and neither the kit nor instructions bare any resemblence  ;D

Change of plan today as a couple of my normal thursday boozing mates were feeling under the weather, so I started to get the transfers on the Zero. Forgotten just how long it took Tamiya's transfers to come away from the backing paper, could have made a cup of tea in the intervening period between emersion and sliding onto the model.

Cold or warm water? I've found it makes a difference.
But you probably already knew that...   ;)

Tea is NEVER a bad idea, regardless of just about everything else.

Are you insane?  You can't make tea with cold water.  Or warm for that matter.  It has to be boiling.   ;)

How do they make 'Iced tea' in America? I've always wondered and never tried the stuff.

Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Tea bag in a mug of shaved ice?

I had to look it up...

Make a large jug of tea with 4 teabags.
Add 2 large spoons of sugar and some sliced lemons.
Remove the teabags and lemon slices when it is cool to the touch.
Keep it in the fridge and serve in a tall glass over ice cubes.
Add fresh lemon slices for added flavour.

Hmm, so you have to boil up a whole lot of cold water, make tea with it, and then freeze it again?

Yeah, right...................  :-\

Tetley's. A mate used to be in charge of their factory over West London way (strangely 95% of the workforce were of Indian ancestry) so it helps his pension

And yes the water has to be boiling
