Does it explain what the small separate section behind the tailgate is for?  My assumption is that it allows the tailgate to be lowered when in the water without flooding the load bay.
I believe it is a divider, a handy way to divide off the cargo space. The kit part has latches around it, it is very thin and does not appear to be watertight or structural. In the sides down image, you can just make out a bolt hole in the side of the uprights, where one of the latches would fit.
Operationally, my guess would be that the space, if not used by the main cargo load would hold Camo nets, misc stores (there appears to be no other lockers for crew stuff other than the cab, whilst not cramped is not overly blessed with abundant spare space. Kits update of tossing a gene in there also makes sense.

Still really liked the build and glad to have it in my collection.
My whiffer for this vehicle, other than Australian Army in Vietnam for logistics, would be something like the Quad Sidewinders of the Chaparral in the cargo space

A pair of Redtops anybody ?

If I had a Stolly I could build exactly that Buzzy mate 👍 😂
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Or four of them? There being no substitute for cubic inches....................................of explosives.  ;)
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

Very nice job on the Stolly.  Whetting my appetite for the Airfix kit.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Some real world propsals for the Stolly for those wanting to whiff it:

There's several more real projects and others on the Salamander, Stalwart, Saracen, and Saladin thread. This is my favourite, doesn't qualify as a whif though!  ;D

Bit of thread drift but worth it.
Over on BTS, one of the denizens Claymore, has been doing a thread focused on the progression of British Mobile Anti Air Missile systems from Bloodhound forward, including Targeting and tracking vehicles.

His Sea Dart version for example

I totally love his work and vision on this.

My opinion is that Claymore is, pretty much, a God amongst armour whiffers!
