Rheged

Quote from: The Rat on February 27, 2025, 01:39:21 PMOld Airfix 1/600th HMS Hood. Not normally something I do, but the price was ok and #1 son is a naval nut, so I'll lash it up for him.

I built that one more than  60 years ago!  To a 9 year old Rheged, it seemed to go together well enough and was my first attempt to make a diorama of the ship at sea (plaster of Paris waves)

Got this from BNA today.  Marked down to less than what the truck alone would usually set me back.  Weighted wheels were extra.  Also contains figures, a shed, a lift up barrier and a printed cardboard base/background.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I cheated and got the specific Hataka Polish AF Paint Set.  2 variations on khaki : Light Polish Khaki - used on fighters & recce types and Dark Polish Khaki used on bombers. The other 2 colours in the set are silver and Light Blue-Grey.

That's very bad form, Chris  ;)  I had you down as a die hard mix-Humbrol-in-a-pot man.

Must check that set out, tbh.  Suddenly I find myself with 4 Polish subjects in the stash!  OK only two are WW2.

The Red series is "Air Brush" ready, but I find they give great coverage if you don't thin them. Their Blue series is "Brush" and the Orange series is Laquer.

They also do modern/Soviet Polish aircraft and helicopter colours and Polish armour.

Thanks Chris.

The light blue-grey looks like Hu247 (Humbrol's take on RLM76.

Dark Khaki looks like 50/50 blend of Dark Earth and Olive Drab, while Light Khaki looks more 40/40/20 Dark Earth/Cockpit Green/Middle Stone.  Or am I just imagining the greenish hues?

Hannants currently only stock the Polish Helicopter set.  Can't see Hataka on my LHS's website.

I've bought stuff through the post from Jadlam, and they had a massive prescence at SMW last year. Found them to be very good

Received today and also collected

1 x 1/48 eduard 8111 Albatros D.Va Profipack. To be modelled as D4545/17 eventualy.

1 x 1/72 HobbyBoss 87238 Royal Navy "Super Lynx". Just looking through the kit and the instructions I can tell that the kit has an identity crisis. The decals and painting instructions are not the same as the box, and although the markings match the painting guide, the weapon options do not match what is in the box

It may seem like that, but the weapons supplied in the kit don't match the box top either

Yep, all four of the HobbyBoss Lynx kits have got their parts mixed up. I'm afraid you basically have to buy them all to get the right bits for the variant you want.  Someone dropped the parts tray just before they went to production, jammed them together and hoped no-one would notice...
I don't know if this has been rectified in newer kits or not.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Oh well, live and learn. With my build-to-stash increase ratio, I can afford to buy one a month, or maybe six months, before I get around to wanting to build one.

Crossed comms and a mess on the packing line ...what ever it is ..dude that's weird 😕
I've never had a kit like that that I can remember.
The only time I've had a really weird one was a Revell HEMTT which not only was it a complete truck but also another compete chassis with wheels and I think an extra set of MLRS rocket packs  :o
