Nah, I'll leave it. But I believe everyone one of us has a choice coming in a rather near future, and it will not be a nice one for many of us.

I know what you mean. Anger doesn't come close to describing my feelings, right now.

In less sensitive news, I've stumbled on another Hasegawa F-102A on our local Evilbay variant. As you might know, I did a couple of Super Deuces last year or so, and I really liked them. Hence, I'm severely tempted to acquire this one too. However, there's no immediate "owner" coming to mind, so there's a significant risk that it'll become another "stash queen" until I find a user for it.

Which, on the other hand, is rather a comforting problem.

One should ALWAYS have a couple of F-102s and F-106s on hand. You never know when inspiration will strike.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Indeed, I've just posted my first ever political comments on Facebook  :-\
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Didn't realise that, I'll keep my eyes open. Thanks

Thank you sir

That is indeed a valid comment. Even if one's StashTM is somewhat (OK, significantly) larger than someone ever will have the opportunity to work through during an average life span.  ;D

Please take this as the compliment it's intended to be - I am quite happy you did. Democracy dies in silence, and while I fear our American friends, of whom there are many, already are too late for saving theirs, we will undoubtedly have to defend ours as well in a near future, and most likely there will be two waves. One where we will have to dispatch of our Farages or AfD's, or similar, and a another one where we will have to actually fight the same war the Ukrainians already are fighting. However, if we help them to continue fighting in Ukraine, then we most likely won't have to fight on our own soil, which we definitely will have to do if we allow Russia to reach any other peace in Ukraine but one where they've completely left Ukrainian soil, AND we have international/European forces stationed in Ukraine to safeguard the peace.

Harsh, maybe, but I'm very convinced that this is the only way. As is Sir Keir, I gather. I wish my own government was equally clear on this, though.

Right. Super Deuces.. Well - they won't be USAF under the current circumstances, will they?
On the other hand - one can't help wonder what a "Democratic USAF" insignia would look like. Or should one instead assume that the current regime will adopt something based on the old confederate banner, leaving the star and bars insignia to the good guys? I mean - I do build Soviet/Russian materiel, so I could as well build something from their allies as well..

But that's for another day. Today, I'll try to quit the doom scrolling and focus on work and maybe a bit on some "aerodynamic studies" as well, in preparation for actually doing some proper modelling.

Slow days, mainly due to me being a bit unwell, I think. Nothing serious (afaik) but rather some flu germ or something kindly delivered by one of the school kids that live here, claiming to be my children. Annoying.  However, in yet another futile attempt to reignite the mojo, I've procured a few more SAAB's, a Lansen and two Viggens. No immediate plans, but I think therre will be options and ideas once I start handling the kits. Or "fondling" them, as my obnoxious eldest daughter says. Teenagers..
While trying not to drift too far into out-of-bounds territory, I still have to comment on the fact that the current and ongoing development of world politics is making much of the defense industry change. While the current F-35A/B/C aircraft are impressive machines in their own right, they are also dependent on software updates and fixes from Lockheed, and if, for political reasons, these updates were to be cancelled, then much of the incoming air defence of Europe would be left on the ground. Given that, one can't help wonder whether we, the Europeans, would have been better off developing and building much more of our equipment locally. As things stand now, I'm not entirely certain the Finns f.i. are all that happy having signed up for F-35's rather than Rafales or Gripens. And obviously, that goes for quite a few of the other Lightning customers as well. Danes, Norwegians, Dutch and Belgians. And Britons, of course.

From a modelling perpective, this is also somewhat detrimental, at least to me. Suddenly, it isn't all that fun building US types anymore. I am aware that it's probably rather ridiculous, but I just don't really feel as much as I did for completing some american builds I have ongoing. The Big B-52H is just one of them, but I have a few other Boeings as well. Not to mention the three (or is it four?) cardboard boxes I have in my storage, containing smaller USAF/USN/USMC aircraft kits. Obviously, I could reassign most of them to other air forces, but you know how it is - some plans are hard to change for no apparent reason but the fact ghat you've had them for a long time.
Well, hopefully this dull feeling towards anything american will pass. But right now, looking at the nearly completed Stratofortress sitting on top of the Shelf of DoomTM isn't giving me the lust to carry on with it that it used to do. And I miss that.

Right.

Today is the start of the traditional yearly Swedish book sale, and I have already payed a first visit to my local book shop, among other things picking up a rather dry but very well researched indeed run-through of the units of the Royal Swedish Army during the 20th century. Perhaps not so much for my modelling, but a nice addition to my general militaria library. And that's all well.

Why do I have images of "my precious" in my mind  ;)

I know a few people who've been carrying the lurgy over the last week or two. Nothing to serious, just sniffles and snot. Get well soon mate

I had exactly the same thought, Chris!!

Get well soon, and perhaps find an appropriate kit for eldest daughter; present her with it and challenge her to make something good from it!  An acquaintance of mine did this to his 16 yr old daughter, and now five years later she's deeply into 18th century mounted cavalry modelling!

Some amazing changes in the way cavalry looked and fought during that 100 years  plus you get to play with all those oil paints trying to get that alusive sheen horses seem to have.

Got shafted on this two Viggens and the Lansen. No serious amount of money, but a very uncomfortable feeling. Reported to EvilBay, so I am expecting a full refund, but I'd rather have my kits..
Ah, well. It's one of those weeks coming up again, where work seriously will be impeding life, so I won't miss them acutely.

Still viewing that almost finished B-52 on top of the Shelf of DoomTM with contempt. Not because the kit is bad or the model isn't ok as such, but because of you-know-what and their acolytes. I need to shake this, but I haven't really wrapped my head around how to do it yet. Time will tell. Or not.

A pox on all those who conspire to fleece us on evil-bay.  May their extremities go black and shrivel.

Convert the B-52 into something the big orange baby would hate - like an aircraft for distributing aid.
