Ship have wheels.  You even steer with them, just not on them...
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Unless they use a tiller.......
I like the roller ship. A paddle wheeler without the paddles. It should be in the Bad Idea GB.

Covers a multitude of sins, but rules out ship modellers to an extent I guess. :(

Paddle wheel steam ships ?  ;)

Added

What about Bazin's  roller ship?     https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roller_ship

Why not? Both of the above work a treat.
The SS Great Western was a paddle steamer

Nick

The US Navy had a pair of paddle wheel aircraft carriers on the Great Lakes. How about a Mississippi paddle steamer aircraft carrier?
The Royal Navy had several paddle wheel tugs.

STEAM! Anything steam powered. Planes, trains, boats, tanks, gliders, drag racers

Quote from: Pellson on March 21, 2025, 02:00:11 PMI'll take the opportunity to suggest a theme I'm almost constantly adhering to, one way or another while whiffing, the Will it never die? theme.

The general idea is to build and modernise any equipment to make it serve long past it's real out-of-service date. It can be as easy as my 1960's J35A Draken gaining the IRST from a later version, more modern armament and a modern grey air-to-air paint scheme, but it could also be a Mosquito with a targeting pod and Maverick missiles. Or a Spad VII armed with Sidewinders. Or anything in that general direction.

Being a very sporadic GB participant, often due to my current mojo not matching the current GB, this would definitely suit me as it's allowing most of what I build as entries.

Yes, it's a selfish suggestion. So bite me.  ;)

This would definitely include the M60 Patton tank. Glue lots of sheet plastic to the outside for bolt on armor and ERA panels.
Yup. Or an M48, or even a Centurion.

I believe there might be some T-54/55s running around out there.
I suppose as long as the engine keeps running and there is ammunition to be found.

At least the Sable and Wolverine  were  freshwater, coal-fired, side paddle-wheel aircraft carriers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Sable  ,  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Wolverine_(IX-64).  A stern wheeler paddle steamer aircraft carrier would make landing considerably more fraught.........especially if a pilot got his approach height wrong.

SPATS!  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Wasn't there a Brian da Basha-inspired Spats GB in days of yore before The Great Schism?

There certainly was, but it was so long ago it's about time we did another one.

Weirdly I think a P-51 would look kinda elegant with spats or a P-47  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .
