Quote from: Joe C-P on April 08, 2025, 02:16:49 PMHow would I put spats on a ship/boat?

That's a very good question.
Spat shaped paddle wheel cover to make it more hydrodynamic?

Also, what would spats on a tank look like? Side skirts that ballon out and come almost to the ground? I'm not being sarcastic. How would it work on anything other than aircraft? Some cars had rear wheel covers that were spat like. 1930s I believe.

Not only in the thirties:

Fascinating idea !

Mk 1 Jaguars had rear wheel spats too, but they minimised them for the Mk. 2s.

The first job I ever did on my 'Production Line Tour' during my apprenticeship was spot welding those spats, and ruddy awkward to handle they were too.  :banghead:

Quote from: McColm on April 08, 2025, 06:55:26 AMI have been penalised in the past for voting for my own proposals and builds otherwise I would have voted for all of my suggestions.

Why ? There is absolutely nothing in the rules that say you can't vote for your own suggestions/build. Although I wouldn't vote for a build of mine, I certainly voted for the couple of suggestions I made.

Also I'm a Moderator and I don't know who voted for what and I don't even know who's voted, so how anyone could penalise you is beyond me.

Chris, with his Moderator hat on.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

PR19_Kit

Spats on the front wheels must surely limit the turning circle, specially with a car THAT long!  :o

Mind you, the chauffeur would be the only one who it worried I guess.  ;D

I was thinking the same. There is a big difference between voting for a proposal and voting for a build. In fact, I would think logical to vote for your own proposal.

What happens if you have more than 10 proposals  and you've only got 10 votes? Besides some of them are in the category "I wish that I had thought of that or that's a good idea '.

loupgarou

Well, in this case, if you have more proposals than votes, then is up to you to decide which prefer. And, of course, it can happen that a proposal from another member takes your fancy, you and everybody is free to choose.
What Narses and me were writing is that there is NO penalisation for voting for your own.

We have 8 ideas in the top 3 tiers after 28 votes ... Yes, I realise this means next to nothing in the grand scheme of things but it's fun to observe how close this voting round is. ;D

Surely a hydrofoil could be considered a ship with spats?

Tank with spats? Something along these lines maybe?  https://www.deviantart.com/cutangus/art/Yellow-339-588286086
