I have some of their early "Luft '46" kits. They were clearly short run, but they did the best they could with the technology available to them. Those early kits are very buildable - similar to early Huma kits.

Totally agree with you Frank. I have lots of their early kits, not just Luft 46, simply because they made kits of aircraft that fascinated me and nobody else did.

I'm currently working on one of Special Hobby's Northrop Deltas (2017 mould).
No location pins.  Clear parts for side windows don't fit in the holes (parts too big) but the cockpit canopy does fit and the fuselage halves match well with the (unmodified) interior parts in place.  Albeit with a lot of clamps.
And that's as far as I have got.  I'll let you know how the wings fit soon.



This boxing is a good one to get as it has floats, skis, wheels (with three types of spat) and a complete set of spare wings.

Naaaah, don't do WWII Axis. No knock on those who do, I understand the appeal, but just not for me. But there's plenty of other stuff in their range that are interesting subjects for whiffery. The Douglas B-18 appeals to me, the FH1 Phantom, their Sunderlands (of course!), and the Seversky P35, and a number of others.

I've built the P35 and it takes some work, but you do get there    I've got the FH1 in the stash, but no idea if it will ever see the light of day 

The May edition of SAM dropped through the letterbox this morning and as well as the usual interesting mix of articles there was a photo that struck me almost immediately.

In an article on the Jaguar GR.1 in RAF service there is a photo of an aircraft of 41 Sqd in 1984 taken during an excercise in Bardufoss in Norway. The aircraft has been re-painted in overall ARTF White, but with large blotches of sky/light blue. Looks stunning.

Now I've never built a Jaguar, but this temps me. I might even see what the purchase to pension ratio is at the forthcoming South Downs Show and get the new Airfix 1/48 kit - shock horror

The builds of the New 1/48 Airfix kit look really good. Fit of parts is reported to be about as good as it gets. Options to build the original pointed nose version as well. If you are tempted, I say go for it. I will at some point for sure.
