What if Curtis had stuck with the four engines instead of two as in the C-46 Commando.
After making a hash of what should have been a simple engine swap I have gone for a new set of wings and engines taken from the 1/72 Airfix Avro Shackleton MR.2 kit including the twin tail fins.
PSR is needed before the wheels and propellers are added.

That looks great! Always loved the Condor, one of those aircraft that has a very distinctive appearance of being a link between the old biplane/open cockpit age and aircraft with the more modern arrangements. Aviation evolution illustrated perfectly. And you've taken it the extra step by eliminating the top wing. If Charles Darwin was an aeronautical engineer he would be beaming with pride and buying you a drink at The Queen's Head:wub:

Thanks, I hadn't checked the Curtis Condor to see what it looks like before I started modifications to the C-46 which had been built but didn't have any propellers. I'll probably build one and the Commando at a later date. I just took the name as my kitbash has altered the appearance of the
C-46.

Aren't the Condor and Commando completely different aircraft?

But yes, this looks interesting.

Very, the Condor was a bi-plane to kick-off, and the Commando a monoplane.

The Condor.

The Commando.

As a footnote I've been aboard that actual Commando and sat in the Captain's seat nearest the window you see there. The cockpit is SO large that the window was feet away from me, and came down lower than my knees!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Thanks for the photos

I'm sure the Commando is huge compared to the Condor.

What happens if the C-46 gets a upper wing to look similar in appearance to the Condor, a future whiff?

PR19_Kit

a) It'll fly slower, and
b) it'll be able to carry more weight.

It certainly would be a whiff!
