Looking forward to this. I have such a project in my long term planning as well, having had both the Monogram XL and a Sufa in the StashTM for a few years already. I just haven't gotten to that particular mojo phase yet..

The problem with the Monogram kit is the lack of camber in the outer wing.

Today's haul from the Scottish Nationals, and all for £45

1 x 1/72 Special Hobby SH 72438 Short Sunderland Mk.I/II 'Flying Porcupine'

1 x 1/72 Sword SW 72079 Lightning T.Mk.4

1 x 1/72 Amodel 72108 Yak-28PP

I also bought a set of lining Brushes for £5

I haven't examined neither the kit nor the original subject enough to know, and I might be tempted not to either, in order not to strain my lust more than necessary.. 😉

Re the A-model Firebar - that's a beast of a kit for you, but the resulting aircraft indeed is a pretty one. I have one nearly ready for paint on the Shelf of DoomTM where it's been sitting idle for quite some time because of mojo. Intention is a slightly "upgunned" version featuring the later missiles used in the MiG-23ML series and a little more recent colour scheme. NMF is not my thing..

Under "New Aquisitions" there's a Swift from Airfix in the pile.

It was simply too cheap to ignore so despite having no immediate plans and on top of that, an Xtrakit variant in the StashTM, I just couldn't help myself. Having performed the mandatory sprue inspection, it looks a really nice kit though, so maybe this'll just have an alternative paint scheme or so, leaving the Xtrakit one for proper modification.

The Airfix Swift is a lovely build. Take care with the cockpit/nose wheel bay area as I have had some problems getting the fuselage to fit with two of the three I have built. Mine are an F.7, a Swedish one and a Saudi one.

I'd agree 100% on both your opinions of the Firebar and the Swift.

The Firebar kit needs so much filing and filling to assemble you'd best have a heavy duty Hoover to and to clear up all the debris!

And the Swift almost falls together. I didn't get Alastair's problems with the nose as mine has the F7 radar nose fitted.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

It's also possible that the problems I had were self-induced.

 And a

1 x ARII 1/32nd 1957 Daihatsu Midget...and that's going back in the mail again tomorrow
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

Received this evening from Japan

1 x 1/72 Lone Star LSR-7211 F-16XL#2 conversion Kit

Nice looking box top

Nicely packaged contents

And the casting is exquisite

Yes you can see the tartan through the trailing edges as they are that thin! No warpage and the correct amount of camber for the leading edges.

That's a CONVERSION kit?  :o

What don't they provide? It looks like the whole aeroplane.

Looks like intake, ejection seats, landing gear, and gear doors, it looks like. And possibly canopy.
