Radish

Well the first kit that really had me purring with joy was the Hasegawa 1/72nd Ki-43. I was building it for an IPMS Stafford Nationals theme of "Vietnam Wars".
The theme title was "Whole Plastic Jacket" and the artwork was the same as Whole Metal Jacket, the film, except that the helmet had paintbrushes, tools, etc.
About 1984 I think.
The Ki-43 was one of those French ones that were used VERY temporarily.
For the same topic I had a go at a French Matchbox Privateer....OK until I painted it and put it to dry. My dog Reg was so pleased to see me (after an absence of all of 30 seconds) that her wagging tail ( a fearsome beast indeed!!!) swept the Privateer into flying mode, for it to land on the carpet and to be subsequently covered in bits, fluff, dust, etc..
Then (to make up the display space I'd now lost for the Nats) I built 3 Heller 1/72nd F-8Es....fantastic build. Just a rub down of the rear fuselage rivets and that's all.
Terrific.
Subsequent "fall together beauties" have been:

Tamiya 1/48th P-51s
Tamiya 1/48th Bf-109E

Once you've visited the land of the Loonies, a return is never far away.....

I had a great time building the Italeri F-16 NATO Falcon, that was so easy to do apart from my mistake with the cockpit edge insert where I trimmed too much off the end and had to fill the gap.
