This damned modified B-29 already had two threads in the past.
It was stalled for 4 months now, dusted in a corner of the Workbench. I saw it everytime I painted a model, but no ideas popped in my brain.. until 5 hours ago.
As you all know, I use tons of strong glue for my models. This mean I have a big stock of empty tubes...
I come across one this afternoon, and realised that it strongly looks like the Miash... Myashich... Miachichtch...(bloody name!!!  <_<   )  M-4 / 3M "Bison" oval air intakes.
After cutting some plastic, and used tons of putty (thanks JHM again) I managed to obtain an oval air intake ala 3M.
I also improved the cockpit.

I spent three hours of PSR on this thing, and it is still unfinished...

First pics.

(as the intakes look M...tchev, but there's onlytwo, I've decided that this would be a Tu-16 competitor in the early 50's).

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Nice progress Archie, can't believe how not like a -29 it looks!  IIRC it's Myasischev, but that depends on where ur reading it?

Two observations:

1. the sep canopy is sweet, u could always scale-o-rama it into 72nd if she's a 144th kit.

2.  Intakes are coming along very nicely, but where is the exhaust or exhausts

Archibald

Model is 1/72, as the canopy.

It was a B-29... 1 years ago, before I registered here.
I obtained FSW after cutting the engine nacelles (by random!)
The plane started as a mixed propulsion B-29 (ala B-36H) then evolved into a FSW ...glider (no engines left).

Here's a nice tip I've found... if you add a P-47 canopy above a B-29 nose, the result really looks like... an Il-28 Beagle (bwarf!).
Nothing surprising: those famous  three B-29s seized by the Russians in Siberia in 1944 "gave" their nose to the whole first generation of Soviet bombers...  ;)

Exhaust are right below the wing (pics to come... if I don't ran out of putty... <_< )

Hmmm I was so unsure about the writing of this name that I made a Google search "M-4+ Bomber".
First website was FAS.org - I took the name from there- (how do say that ? copied / pasted ? ) .
So they've made a typo hmmmm ?

Archie,

72nd! Yikes, that's even scarier.  But in a nice way of course.  As for the name, well, given the Cryllic alphabet and the transliterations that happen as a result, I'd say unless you were talking to Papa Myasischev himself, u'd b pushing to get a straight answer.

Best of luck with this beast, man 72nd, that's got cohones!

Looking bold as hell, Archibald-----I'll send more putty!

Archi, I really like the shape this has taken, looks pretty soviet inspired to me.

Thanks for all the cheers comments!
I've just noticed that the t-tail has to be rebuild, as the outriggers.
More pics this afternoon... (JHM, wait a minute before sending putty  , I have to check some shops to see if they have some in their stock...)

Long life to putty, which allow the most craziest scratchbuilds...

And thanks Maverick for those clever explanations

More pics... I used Mirage IV drop tank to make outriggers fairings. Many bumps and holes removed (can a hole be removed ?   )
T-tail improved

Holy crap!  I'm buying stock in Bondo!  That is going to be one hell of a bird.

frank2056

I love the outriggers and the engine intakes! The red bondo around the intakes looks interesting - maybe when you're ready to paint you can add a red band around them?

What are you gong to do with the t-tail?

Frank

Archibald

A T-tail! I don't plan any mods to it (already hard to glue it on top of the tail ).

I've improved it again... I've added a small radar bombing below the nose.
I plan to add some cool bumps, antenas and the like...

The intakes are strong-glue pots (cans ? what 's the exact word ?) I have a huge stock of them (everywhere).

Thanks for all the cheers comments... this B-29 already has had many differents lives but I think it just found its exact shape.
I plan a basic Soviet paint sheme (red stars, big number on the fuselage...)

What's bondo ? a kind of putty ?  ;)

I'll try to post pics of the underneath as soon as possible...
