Thanks again everyone, for the encouraging comments and suggestions.

JHM – I like the chevron idea, but it would be too big a change for the MiG. However, I think that it might look good on a Fifties project I have in mind, using something like MiG-19s.

Also, if you're going to forward pictures to Tophe, whose work directly inspired my Twin Kobra and the future Twin Catalina (just the wing constructed so far), perhaps you could add the one below. The Twin Shturmovik is the next of the old whiffs scheduled to be renovated after the MiG, and the Twin P-40 (taped together for a test fitting) is a tentative entry for the P-40 Group Build.  Both should get their own threads in due course. (I sense a bit of a theme developing  here, but I do also build non-twin-fuselage whiffs, including what will be a rocket interceptor based on the P-40B.)

Greg - I wondered about basing a naval MiG-25 on the projected STOL Ye-155R(VD) which, in one version, had four lift engines arranged in pairs on either side of the fuselage spine, the engines on the right being placed ahead of the centre of gravity and those on the left just behind it. However, even with a ski jump, I suppose the payload and range wouldn't have been that great with four dead engines to carry round for most of the flight, so swing wings are probably a better idea.

And thanks for the kind words re the SIG stand, Chris. Sadly the TB-3 is Ken's not mine, but I'm working on a Tu-504 (think flying boat version of Superfortress) which had reached the painting stage but has regressed somewhat due to the combined attention of my daughter and the removal men during the recent house move. As soon as I've found a missing float and managed to permanently close a splitting upper fuselage, I'll post some pictures.

On the MiG front, I've assembled the GTD-21 drone and retrieved the undercarriage parts, but haven't done any significant work on the MiG itself yet. I've also (why am I doing this – I have enough half-finished projects!) dug out the kits I need to make the anti shipping version and started on the basic assemblies.

I think that I'm going to have to prioritise the MiGs and P-40s otherwise nothing is going to get finished - - -

Oh, and can anyone explain to me how to get pictures into the middle of the posted text, as opposed to attaching an image at the end?

I'm quite sure that this thread could bring Tophe back to this forum... we miss him (I feel isolated sometimes, don't know why  :D   )

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

I'm surprised Comrade Anatoly hasn't found this thread yet

Welcome, Gordon.

What happened to Tophe anyway?
