How can a tailless aeroplane be a tailseater ?  :banghead: :banghead:

She is currently under correction for a misbehaving trailing edge  ;D

I promised some pics before my break

Ready for warp Captain. I almost added seat belts !  Seriously if you get this kit just paint the innards dark grey, you cannot see a thing through the transparencies they are virtually solid.

Wings ready to be joined

You will play together nicely. Only fit problem I've had and she's all together now

Ready for the Maskol and paint skipper. All over anti-flash white. I have some old Flightdec transfers for RAF roundels in pink/pale blue in both the pink/white/blue and pink/blue varities in 1/144 scale. I think they might have been in an old magazine, can't imagine I'd buy them ? Anyway the 36" roundels will work given the size of this beast in real life. Tail stripes will have to be hand painted on some clear transfer sheet but shouldn't be a problem and serials will come from an after market 1/72 set of suitable size. That will be about it apart from perhaps some wing walk stripes.

The trouble with many flying wing models is exactly WHERE do you put the serials and fin stripes, there's precious little side area on the model, and the B-49 has less than most!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Captain Canada

Looks excellent Chris ! Never built one or seen the model, so this is great. Cheers !

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !
Where's my beer ?

Right she's had a couple of coats of Halford's finest white primer top and bottom and once that's hardened I may just give that a couple of Klear coats and apply the transfers rather then get the Appliance White out.

After that I need to get some semi-gloss varnish (thanks Robert ) and she'll almost be done.

I may get another for the SR Mk I version or perhaps the ultra secret SR Mk IV ? If I do then it will be in flying mode but not for this GB. I will build another RAF Flying wing for this GB but it will be in the Canberra class, possibly to be called the Ottawa or the Auckland as I live in Auckland Rise  ;D

The Vengence has been Kleared and I think I've found an unused serial number batch for her. I use this site for serials http://www.ukserials.com/which in all honesty I find a bit of a pain. Anyone know any other sites or indeed sites that give the unallocated/unused blocks by period ?

I've also asked this in my blog page just in case anyone thinks they are going barmy  ;D

UK Serials is the one I always look at Chris, I don't know of any other.  What time line are you looking at ?

EDIT:  took a look at your link and it took me to something I've not seen there before, see if this one is any better.

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I've used Bruce Robertson's 'British Military Aircraft Serials' book for years, if only because I've already marked in all the 'blank blocks' and I can find a suitable one in seconds. It beats going up and down pages on the internet.  ;D

My copy only goes as far as 1987, but I believe later issues go further. But as mine covers the areas I'm most interested in it works for me.

I've found a block immediately prior to the Vulcan B 1's. So I'm using something from the XH100 to XH115 range.

Your link takes me to the page I started at Robert

XH116 was a Beverley.........

I've got that block marked in the book.  ;D

Got the roundels on yesterday and then hit a snag with the serials.

The only suitable serial sheets I have for the under wing serials are intended for pre WWII aircraft and thus there was no need to include the post war letter X  :banghead: Now considering my usual builds this is not a problem normally. So I had a rummage in my odds and sods box and came up with XN991 in the right size plus I have both of them. Now obviously this was a serial which was used in about the right time period but XN166 wasn't  ;D So I will cut the numbers off, rotate them and use that. XN166 was unused but is in amongst a host of gliders so my backstory is that this use of odd, rather than sequential, serials was all part of the general misinformation issued about this aircraft until it's eventual unveiling

Now have to sort the fin flashes and they will be tiny

Chris,

when trying to sort out British serials this might help, it certainly helps me!

They are just physical manifestations of collisions between enigma & conundrum particles.

She's almost there. Tra. nsfers and detail painting are done. Just some final fiddly bits (and in 1/200 everything is fiddly ) to do and then I need to knock a base up to deal with the tail sitting  :banghead: Also need to get some semi-gloss varnish
