...When are these 'reviewers' going to LEARN?  :banghead:

Maybe when show judges start looking at reference material and taking points off for inaccurate portrayal of panel lines?

This is why I should never be allowed to judge at a show - i'd use it as an excuse to exercise my petty grievances and trivial dislikes.

i thought that was one of the best reasons to volunteer to be a judge, the ability to act them out, within the rules that every other bugger uses to punish those with imagination, and joy.
sorry is a little bitterness showing  ;D

take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.

I like how the Vampire T11 build with it's emphasised panel lines is immediately followed by a collection of photos of 1:1 Swedish Vampires exhibiting almost no visible panel lines.

I find the current fashion (and that's what it is) of over emphasising panel lines really, really annoys me. I always say you should remember that when building in 1/72 you are viewing from 72 foot away at a minimum and you tell me then what panel lines you can see ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I have pics of the MiGs at Cosford showing you can't see any panel lines at 6 foot away.

I have got further into the September issue and am finding the article on the 1/72 Abrams frustrating due to it referring to techniques like "black and white colour modulation" while assuming the reader knows what that means.  Yes, I could google it but I shouldn't have to.  The article should be self contained and have a whatchermacallit side bar thingo explaining stuff like this.
Having said that it's a fantastic looking build given the scale.

Yes I took the mag to work to read at break time and several people remarked on the Abrams. They were even more impressed when I pointed out how small it is: they were under the impression that it was about a foot long...

As far as I can tell, 'modulation' is just a fancy word for pre-shading. You can pretty much work out what he did by reading the whole thing and looking at the pictures and captions, even though there isn't a specific explainer.

I worked on that assumption as well, but I do agree with Zen that it would really help to have a sidebar.

It's gone on the little list I keep to remind me of suggestions for magazine "teams" on the Sunday at SMW. They tend to  have more time on the Sunday for a short chat

Can you add to your list for the AMW team a dedicated Rotodyne issue...  ;D

LOVE that idea.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I assume you mean the modelling aspects of the Rotodyne. One of the restoration mags (Aeroplane or Flypast) just did a development article on the Rotodyne not too long ago.
