Quote from: Wardukw-NZ on August 19, 2022, 02:00:44 PMOk been wanting some Green Stuff putty for ages and yesterday i decided to do something about it.
So i looked online for it here..yup we have it in NZ but 2 things stopped that ..all out of stock and the price.
One group here had it in 100mm lengths and theres 2 in a packet..for $18.00NZ..nope..so a little more looking..found ESTY and for $21:05 NZ i brought 36in/915mm roll of it..its $37:40 all up..postage and gst crap..cant wait to get this and it was posted today  ;D

I've seen it on Mighty Ape for pretty cheap, if you're still a bit shell-shocked from the Bricks-and-Mortar hobby shop prices...
There again, that might have been where you went, I dunno... I haven't had to get any for a while.
Rick mate it was Mighty Ape where i saw it first listed on my google search and when i saw the price of $18 bucks for 2 100mm long bits i wasnt impressed and their out of stock
I think everyone here is out which is quite annoying so i went the route i took..hell a 36in roll is gonna last me for freakin ages mate

Oops, yeah - now I recall that the longer the lengths, the cheaper-per-inch it got- for a given value of 'cheaper', of course...

Yup, I inherited a 36" roll from a friend, and have yet to work out what to use much of it for... ;)

If you need any reference pic's, my niece has got a lovely dappled grey one.  ;)

Thanks but he'll be black and tan.
The whole Scooby Gang is going to get a RW paintjob.  I've got one set I did earlier but I want to have another go as I reckon I can do better.

Today:
  • from Aviaeology, a copy of sheet AOD72013 RCAF Overseas Catalinas (essentially for a real-worl build of personal interest, plus scope for a whif if I can get a cheap (part-built, even) Heller CL-215)
  • from Evilbay, a copy of Modeldecal sheet 47 (lots of 36" post-WW2 British red/white/blue roundels to use!)

Something else I had ordered at the beginning of the year turned up, this time from Khee Kha Productions. Both 1/72 conversions. First one is a turbo engine cowling and prop for the DHC-3 Otter and the other is correct engines for a RCAF Ford Trimotor. All I need to find for the Trimotor now is a pair of 1/48 Swordfish floats ---

I'd be tempted to get the turbo-Otter conversion if I could also get some appropriate Harbour Air decals.  IIRC Arctic Decals once did a set but these are as rare as rocking horse waste matter.

I have airbrushed SMS lacquer and it works well.  The business is small enough that the bloke who runs it sells paint at model shows.  Which is nice.
I can see potential issues with PE rigging if I manage to build my biplane slightly misaligned so I am trying to fit a piece of into gap longer or shorter than it is intended for.  And obviously it'll be no good for a whiff.

What a charitable act; giving a good home to an orphan Tunnan.

There are 2 builds of the kit itself in Sept's Phoenix Aviation Modelling. Gets a good report, builder goes as far as saying that they would make a great intro starting point for someone wanting to get into WWI aircraft
