There are 2 builds of the kit itself in Sept's Phoenix Aviation Modelling. Gets a good report, builder goes as far as saying that they would make a great intro starting point for someone wanting to get into WWI aircraft

I was pondering building it as a Be.12.

Ah right. That would be interesting. I had to check but there were two versions of the 12 and surprisingly, to me at least, they were still being used on home defence duties in 1918. I've always thought of the 2 and 12 as being early war aircraft.

Received this morning from Poland

1 x BIG ED MiG-29A IZDELIYE 9-12 BIG72108 for the trumpeter kit.

This is for a real world build I have planned, I have the kit and decals already so I thought tart it up a bit too with some etch and this was the only set I could find for the kit and from the only location I could find it.

According to Wikipedia there were two versions of the 12.  One of which had different wings to the 2.  Both had different engines so it's not just a matter of fairing over the front cockpit and adding guns.
Wiki says The B.E.12b used the B.E.2c airframe but had the 200 hp Hispano-Suiza engine. It was intended as a night fighter and carried wing mounted Lewis guns in place of the synchronised Vickers. Apparently it had a good performance but the engine was more urgently needed for the S.E.5a and very few B.E.12b fighters went into service with home defence squadrons. Some of those built may never have received engines.
So that would be the one i'd build if I was wanting an RW build.  However...

Putnam's agrees with that , or more likely Wiki agrees with Putnams.

Three types, B.E.12, B.E.12a and B.E.12b.

The B.E.12 was used for a variety of experimental tests, including armament trials
the most interesting of which is probably the installation of 6-lbdr Davis recoilless
mounted firing upwards at a 45° angle. The muzzle was even with the top of the
upper wing, the barrel coming up through a cutout in the wing.

Spey_Phantom

just placed a new online order for some old secondhand kits:

-Revell 1/144 Avro Lancaster B-Mk1
-Revell 1/144 B-24J Liberator
-Revell 1/144 B-26B Maauder
-Hasegawa 1/144 Mitsubishi Ki-46 Dinah
-Hasegawa 1/144 Mitsubishi Ki-21 Saly
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

Another Hasegawa 1:72 BAC Lightning (in a Revell re-boxing, though), with the plan to create another (final) submission to the running GB in September.

Presumably as an anti Zeppelin weapon?

An exotic purchase: an complete and running all-metal chassis from a Märklin H0 scale locomotive, w/o light, though, but that won't matter much.
The plan is to "mate" it with the body from an Atlas locomotive plastic display model, for something fictional (and running). We'll see.

Do Marklin still do that 'stud' system of current collection, or are they all normal 2-rail pickup now?

I had a heavy, and rattling, parcel in the post today, and it contained ZILLIONS of plastic and resin bit from a 'factory' in the North East.  ;D

Thanks VERY much Lee, and I really, REALLY promise to get your decal on the post today.........
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Yes, they still have/use the symmetric 3-way conductor AC system.

Good to hear they arrived, despite the strikes ( which I wholeheartedly support btw).  The extra plastic may assist with the resin.  A call to Martin or Thorvic may make some sense of the build order.

The subject the decals are to go on is just about ready for them.
