Been lacking mojo lately.  Started this one several weeks ago but it's been untouched since.  Starting 5 (potentially 10) days off tomorrow so I'm hoping to get it finally finished.  Hopefully posting it here will motivate me.

I'm leaning towards an RAF Meteorological Flight aircraft with a big "Snoopy"-like nose boom.  Maybe some bits and bobs fitted for inflight icing research.  It's going to be. bit early for Raspberry Ripple so thinking maybe white/grey with some flourescent orange panels/surfaces.  I started it with the landing gear retracted so it'll be an inflight build.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Uh, sorry there may be a misunderstanding: I do not mean I think the nose will have a double boom this way but: the Vampire is a twin-boomer concerning tail rear support, and this one may have a special nose (even if counting this as boom could make a triplex-boom layout, no more twin-boom perhaps).

Tophe, my plan is a nose somewhat similar to the red and white striped one on the RAF Hercules.  That was a Meteorological Research Flight aircraft for a long time in the RAF.  I'm going to keep to proportional to the Vampire but I think it will be an interesting look.

I saw that in detail at https://twitter.com/clark_aviation/status/1297473658064003072
and yes, it would be great on a Vampire, yes!

To explain better the puzzle in my brain (2 boom or 4 boom?) on a P-38 example rather than Vampire (2 boom or 3 boom):

Vampire, one of my favourites.  Not my usual scale, but I've been toying with the idea of getting one.

Precursor to the Gnat?  IIRC it carried gust response probes in the tiger striped booms.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Definitely!

Considering the construction of the aircraft which the "pod" is made from plywood. There is very little structure forward of the cockpit except to hold the nose gear, perhaps have the probe/boom mounted on the side of the fuselage, say the right hand side with the level a little bit lower that the cockpit sill then you could name it "The Lancer" or something like that

There was a gun camera directly above the wheel bay in some marks, should be enough room for some compact kit.

If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

I managed about a decade or so ago, not sure I'd fit now, it's pretty snug.  Climbed into the bombing position in a Canberra on the same day, it took me so long to get out they nearly shut the museum on me!

I've been thinking about a canard Vampire with the booms coming out the front of the wings.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
