Thanks Chris.  Vallejo Model Air brush painted.  Three coats over grey primer.  First two look like they are not going to cover but then the third comes good.

Bit similar to Hataka's brush formulated paint. Two coats then a thin third brings it together.

I have some Hatake brushing paint (Su.34 blues set).  Haven't tried it yet.

I'm a sucker for A-Model kits, but they are tough builds.

That's a nice finish on the Vampire. I've been trying out the AK Interactive 3rd Gen acrylics and they work well, too - very, very high pigment density, so the color becomes opaque with only very thin coats.

Some of the later ones are not quite so tough, but one or two of the earlier ones    It's a shame because they do some really interesting types especially some of the WWII era stuff, and I do keep looking at the IL-40 in the stash and going uhmmmmmmmmmmmm 

I brought my Yak-28 back with me y'day and it's not sticky at all. Mind you, it's ages old as I bought it as soon as it was announced, intending to swap bits with it and a U-2 to make a Mandrake.

Then, of course, A Model announce a Mandrake...........

I have runout of 1/48 drop tanks and so have nothing to make an extended nose from.
I shall have to fire up my lathe and turn one from aluminium.

Today I cleared the Vampire so she's ready for the stickers.

I also started a KP Tempest.  I figured as I have three of them (and an Academy MkV and an Airfix Typhoon) I should see how they go together.  It's a Mk II Silver Wings boxing.  It will be in RAAF service.

I built the Il-40 as a whif. It's a bit of a dog, but it can be manhandled into shape. It's a very big plane, even in 1/72

I'll be interested in seeing how you get on with this, because I'm not getting on with mine at all. It's odd because their Mk V & VI are great builds, but with the II the new cowling will not fit the existing fuselage. I am persevering however and will get there.

We'll see.

Today I put some transfers on the Wampyre.  The aftermarket Printscale stuff is very thin and glossy and went on beautifully.  The Airfix stencils are matt finish and I am concerned about silvering.

I've not had an issue with Airfix's transfers so far, but I do coat them with Klear as soon as they are on.

I have so far only put on the Airfix do not walk red stencils over the intakes and flaps.  I liberally coated them with Microsol but they still look crap.
I shall try brushing on a small amount of clear tomorrow to see if that improves matters.

Weather here on the Dank Northern Slopes of Mount Martha is improving and I am hopefull that Spring will soon be here properly and that I will be able to put down some decent shiny paintjobs on a few car models.
