Maybe this is for a load (passengers/soldiers?) with a one-way ticket: move somewhere far by rail, then take off, then deposit somewhere without rails, the helicopter never flying again. Expensive maybe but that could be chosen by generals taking good care of taxpayers' money.

I suppose it could come in useful for when you get track closures - land slips, flooding etc
