I seem to remember an Australian model website that used to advertise a 1/24 Me 262, a vacuform with lots of resin detail bits. Can't think which one it was though --

Would it have scale sound too though?  ;D

Firm called RCM did 1/24 and 1/32 kits. They were vacform with metal and resin parts. You had to pay in advance and wait 2 months for delivery.

That rings a bell Nick, thanks for the reminder

I can see the logic in the larger scale kits showing off the engineering, but you are going to need a lot of space to display them.

PR19_Kit

... and a lot of money to buy them too!  :o
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Development costs would be much higher as the modelling and design hours would be much greater because of the parts count required to get the detail needed for a large scale kit, ditto the mould costs.

zenrat

Have you not seen the latest Airfix 1/72 aircraft?  More parts than you can shake a stick at.

Over engineered in most cases, you know that they are there but you can't see them!

jcf

Yes, I've seen them, but still far less than what would be expected of a larger scale kit.

NARSES2

Just got an e-mail with info on the new tool 1/48 Anson.  Looks very nice. One of the options in the first boxing is a RAAF example being used on camouflage trials in 1943. Actually makes the Old Annie look relatively attractive.  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

PR19_Kit

So the 'small scale' modellers still have to put up with their archaic 1/72 version I suppose.

Airfix should remember their 1/72 roots and not concentrate so much on the margin making larger scales to my mind...........  :-\
