I still haven't got the cowling fitted satisfactorily to the KP Tempest II.  It's like the glue (Revell Contacta and/or Tamiya Extra Thin) isn't fully compatible with the styrene and so the joints are not as strong as they could be and keep letting go when I apply force to try to get the cowling sides to line up.
This all seems to be a lot of effort just to end up with a RW aircraft.  With the next one I might as well make it worthwhile and fit something not meant to be there.

I've got the Tempest cowling firmly attached to the fuselage.  I can now appreciate why Chris put it to one side in frustration.  It's going to need a lot of PSR in tricky places and i'll lose all the engraved detail.   :banghead:

Not as bad as I thought, but still not as good as it should be and work needed in awkward places.  Still, seeing it in primer has improved my feelings towards it.
I do like the way it looks in the first pic with a tiny canopy (a blob of play doh).  Got me thinking about doing one as a race plane...

Coming along well.
I still like the powerful and almost brutal look of the aircraft.  <_<

Thanks folks.

Chris, I had no issues with the fit of the engine into the cowling or the ring on the front.
I aligned the engine plate with the notch at the top (and the Magneto at the bottom) and the ring so the sprue attachment points were East/West.

Here is a usefull pic I found on the interweb.

Just don't overlook the fact it is reversed.

But a Phantom isn't English, apart from the engines in the RAF and FAA ones anyway.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
