I'm not sure if there's any  Convair B-36 Peacemakers in flying condition but if they were;

Something like this.

The older C-130s might benefit from the wings of a C-160 and engines from the Airbus A400M, propellers came from the Convair B-36 Peacemaker.

Then there's this the BAC SkyGaurdian AEW.1

The Chinese have built something similar.

Its been reported that flight trials of the Boeing E-7 Wedgetail will be taking place this year with the RAF Squadron being operational for 2025.

Trials? They needed to have done them AGES ago! BEFORE they stopped flying the E-3s.  :banghead:  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Don't be silly didn't the they do that before with the Harrier, sold them before a replacement was in service. The same happened with the BAe Nimrod MR.2Ps but they replaced the R.1s straight away. Then there's the Hercules,yes the Atlas has taken over but it's a bit on the large size and the RAF haven't ticked the option to use it as a refueling tanker.

The crews that are going to operate the Wedgetail will have to return to Blighty after their holiday, I mean crew training down under in Australia.

NARSES2

An early entry for "Cynic of the Year" at next years Wiffies ?  :angel:  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Flight trials? The RAAF have been flying these for 10 years already!

What works in the southern hemisphere doesn't necessarily work north of the equator. Bryd and Fortune did an excellent sketch about the exercise prior to the first Gulf War 1990-1991.

I'm sure there was a (concept) design for the original E3 which featured a forward swept tail fin with the radome mounted on top ?  That would be a pretty unusual model but, one hell of a tail sitter!!

I think it was an EC-135D which had the radome fitted to the top of the vertical tail fin. There was a plan to fit the E-3s with the British FASS radomes. An interesting build as the front radome fits but the rear end needs to be sorted out.
