Firm called RCM did 1/24 and 1/32 kits. They were vacform with metal and resin parts. You had to pay in advance and wait 2 months for delivery.

I can see the logic in the larger scale kits showing off the engineering, but you are going to need a lot of space to display them.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Development costs would be much higher as the modelling and design hours would be much greater because of the parts count required to get the detail needed for a large scale kit, ditto the mould costs.

Yes, I've seen them, but still far less than what would be expected of a larger scale kit.

Just got an e-mail with info on the new tool 1/48 Anson.  Looks very nice. One of the options in the first boxing is a RAAF example being used on camouflage trials in 1943. Actually makes the Old Annie look relatively attractive.  ;D

So the 'small scale' modellers still have to put up with their archaic 1/72 version I suppose.

Airfix should remember their 1/72 roots and not concentrate so much on the margin making larger scales to my mind...........  :-\
