Sort of, I built one pretty much OOB apart from a few 'Brit' additions for one of the GBs last year.  It's this thread here

Thank you Kit, that was quite helpful.  I will make sure I have lots of putty, weight and paint!  I have my fears about Mach2, but glad it is manageable for the most part.

Yes, it is pretty small!

That's a 1/1144 scale Goblin that comes with the GRB-36 kit?  :o

Jeepers, that's TINY! I have a 1/72 scale one and that's small enough, you'll need a microscope to build yours!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Quote from: DogfighterZen on October 13, 2022, 03:23:05 PMAlso waiting for a couple of a couple of "special ones" for me... These are the Pegasus 1/72 XP-40Q

It's a nice looking aeroplane. I built one a long time ago, not sure if it was the Pegasus kit (wasn't the Planet one fore sure) but I need to check. Would look good in immediate post war Portuguese markings.

Sure is! And it's frustrating that this bird is overlooked by model companies. But i know, not a famous variant of the P-40 and wouldn't sell many copies and all that but, it's a beauty. Especially the XP-40Q-3 with a more streamlined canopy, which is the one i want to build.
I've been buying a few 1/72 WWI era fighters that have more than enough bubble canopies to donate one to the cause. ;)
Regarding Portuguese markings, may well happen and would look great indeed but it's not my main concern. First i'll try to find a suitable canopy, and if the white metal parts are shoddy, maybe a prop and landing gear.
Will also get 4 20mm cannons in place of the 4 .50 cal MGs for a bit more punch...

So something like this one?

Gondor

Well... close but mine won't be a naval bird so, will be much simpler. That one does look good, though.

I wasn't aware this was a thing! :o  :o  :o

 ;D  ;D  ;)  ;)

I didn't spot that  :banghead:  ;D

AHAHAHA that would be something worth whiffing... ;D I obviously didn't notice it but it's meant to have another I, as i'm sure you've all understood.

So, got another Phantom on Friday, the same kit i'd built when i was a kid... somehow, i had the impression that the kit was bad but i was pleasantly surprised to see that, although it's all raised panel lines, they're very well done and the kit looks as good as any other kit from the same era.. I know i'll build this so i hope the fit isn't too bad cause i'd hate to sand away the raised detail.

It's the grand-daddy of the Bilek kit I did a few years ago. It's sat on my desk now waiting to be finished as a RNZAF bird. You can't tell it has raised panel lines after a light sanding and a few coats of paint, but the lines are visible. Nice easy build, I'd get another one.

Only issue I can recall is a fair bit of filling around the joints - and pay attention to the underside of the inlets. These don't line up too well and I have a nasty join under mine. I missed filling those in before I painted.
Cockpit is a bit simple and bare too - replacement seats might help.

Yesterday at the IPMS Duneland club show I bought some real oddities. First was a Pavla Hs 129A kit in 1/72. What a stinker! I don't know if I'll build or use it for a few parts. The second was an even bigger stinker. A 1/100th B-52 by Atlantic (not Atlantis!) in vinyl! At least I only paid a few bucks for them. On the flip side I got a Lindberg B-58 Hustler, the small one, an OV-1 Mohawk by Hasegawa and an Italeri B-57. And also a second place for my Mother in Law-1 MiL-1 in the whiff category. First place was a bubble canopy Corsair in late WW2 markings on a beautiful display base. 520 entries total and lots of kits sold by vendors so lots of happy people. Quality of the entries was outstanding!

Thanks for the heads up, Nick!
Looks like it'll need a bit of work, hey? No worries, i'm willing to do it, it's a Phantom.

Back in the day Italeri were considered to be at the top table as far as producers were concerned. Unfortunately they haven't really moved with the times, although to be fair I've not seen their recent F.35's, or a review, so maybe they have moved on over the last couple of years. It's a shame really as they've always produced kits of subjects others wouldn't touch, especially Italian types obviously, but others as well.

They are currently rereleasing some very old kits with good box art and great transfer options (something they've always been good at) which may well lead to a few disappointed customers especially among the unwary, which is sad.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Dizzyfugu

They are apparently going (down) the Hasegawa route... Wonder when the first multi-kit-boxes with limited edition decals for exaggerated prices turn up...

Wardukw

Well the exaggerated prices are already there Thomas.
Italeri MI 155mm towed gun...I built this well over 30 yrs ago and now it's available with a crew for the lovely cheap price of €52  :o
Bronco do the M1A1 version and that is only €35 and a ten times better kit.
It's also not 200 yrs old like the italeri kit..still don't have one of those guns ..might have to change that at some point  ;D
The Bronco one that is.
