Valmet OY Lentokonetehdas (Valmet Aircraft Factory) Kalpa (Sword)

More commonly known as the Pitkä Nenä (Long Nose) by the personnel working with & flying them, the Kalpa was designed as a patrol interceptor. Based on plans of the North American F-86 Sabre fighter, supposedly purchased through legitimate means, but built around the Valmet V-50 Mk.II engine (after the metallurgical issues had been sorted) & fitted with a rather novel inlet & radar arrangement (apparently scaled down from one of the Lavochkin La-200 variants (La-200B) that the Finns say they have no knowledge of).

Capable of carrying 2 x 750L drop tanks, which extended its patrol time to approximately 4 hours at optimum cruising speed, & up to 4 x AIM-7E Sparrow missiles plus 2 x AIM-9B Sidewinders, the Kalpa was, also, armed with 2 x 20mm M39 revolver cannons & 2 x 30mm ADEN cannons.

Can't be blaming Fred for an idea that was already there.

Which one?
 ;D
"If it looks right, it will fly right" might not apply here. "Form follows function", perhaps

As soon as I saw the side view my head said 'Lansen'!  :o

Why would that be? There's not a lot of Lansen shape in it, but it still says it to me. Weird.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

As a good friend of mine in Jamaica says ...Dat be wicked cool man  ;D
Awesome stuff Guy ..they both look great which is strange but it's ture ..yup this was well worth waiting for matey
The frontal view of the sword shows this plane has some strange looking condition that a few hits with a big hammer wouldn't fix..
The side view tho looks perfectly normal..weird ..yip top notch work Womby  ;D
If it aint broke ,,fix it until it is .
Over kill is often very understated .
I know the voices in my head ain't real but they do come up with some great ideas.
Theres few of lifes problems that can't be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile .

It's the general "W e i r d !" vibe radiating out of your screen interfering with your perception ;)  ... or cognitive function ... researchers aren't clear on that, yet.

No so much ugly as disfigured, but in an elegantly completed manner, like a facelift and nose job (or somewhat unnatural looking surgically enhanced breast augmentation) that looks wrong but was exactly what the customer requested.

The Lansen and the F-86 share that shelf-like structure near the tail (as does the Fiat G.91). That's why my whif universe has Embraer building F-86s and EMB.91s and Mitsubishi making F-86s and (yet to be built) Mitsubishi Lansens.
Whatever.

Hideous, both of them, but oh, so well executed! I have to admit I didn't see this outcome when you started these projects. Superb work!

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
