im surprised there was no topic on this aircraft yet  :-\

the A300 and shorter A310 both have a certail potential.
in real life, the use of this 1st generation Airbus has been wide, from the traditional passenger transport to freighters & aerial refueling.

a proposed tanker version of secondhand A310's has been in use with Germany and Canada for some time.
but those are HDU tankers only, while Airbus has also tested a boom-refueling system for the A310, before implementing this on the newer A330-MRTT.
i think the larger A300 would make a better tanker then the A310, as it offers more space/payload.

an A310-based AEW platform was also proposed to Australia a few years ago....

I'm amazed the A300 wasn't used more by the military as Tanker transport aircraft. I would have liked to have seen the RAF buying the A310 in the 80's/90's

here's another, the A300 Zero-G...

and its replacement, the A310 Zero-G

Nice one Nils. One of these days I'll get around to building a Polaris.

In Richard Payne's "Stuck on the drawing board" HS149 is defined a four-engined derivative of A300B

Will die without understanding this world.

Like a short A340 then?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Biggest thing I've ever flown!   I didn't do it for long but got a little "heavy" time herding cargo A300s around the Caribbean and China.  I think the most memorable flight was skirting the edge of Hurricane Katrina a few hours before it hit New Orleans.

Completely different animal compared to the A320 I teach on these days.

So I got that going for me...which is nice....

Captain Canada

Cool. I can only imagine the difference ! But if you squint really hard when you're looking at them, they're pretty much the same lol. Some day we'll sit down fora few pints and I can hear some of your stories nick. Cheers

I would absolutely love that.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Here's a Marconi FASS BAe 844 which is based on the A310. They also proposed a BAe 847 which was based on the A300. I'm attempting a 1/72 build of it.
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike
