Do it, DO IT!

Just needs a larger tail and you've got a Wyvern puppy  ;D

I have a spare PM Sea Fury in the stash,  bits in the spares box and plastic sheet, just need an Aeroclub Wyvern white metal propeller.

Yes, that's what I used for the intake duct at the front. But then the cowling stays at that diameter for quite a way back because of the engine (as you can see in my post above). On the Lancaster FTB nacelles, the rear half of the nacelle I used the rear fuselage of a Supermarine Swift. You can work out where that huge engine mount is in the side view of the Lancaster FTB, it lines up with the Lanc's main spar ---

KB - what's the Aero club reference no for the Wyvern prop?  Once I have that, I'll see if I have one in my collection.

Not sure, Dominic, will delve and PM you.

Kitnut617 - good point regarding Python length.  My q & d profile moves the engine forward to resemble the Wyvern S4's profile.  Sawn-off Matchbox Meteor engine intake does the trick - have done the measurements as part of a cunning plan for a Python-based whif that's been on the to-do list for some time.

Quote from: Freightdog862 on August 30, 2022, 02:14:23 PMGood evening,

Getting pretty close to Scale Modelworld so plans are coming together. I have a few projects still in progress which I won't announce until I know they are going to be ready. This one should be delivered in time, masters have gone to CMR to cast, just waiting on Rob Taurus regarding the canopy production (not shown) but should be okay.

This is the BAC Mustang Low Speed Research Vehicle in 1/72 scale, about 10 cm long, beautifully mastered by Paul Lucas. Optional parts included for an unpowered version, or with a recovery rocket just in case.

I'll be honest, I've been sitting on this release for a while now since Joe Cherrie did one around the time mine was ready so I held back, but I think its time for it to see the light of day.

I'll post more on this thread as more items get confirmed.

Thanks,
Colin

So how about a MUSTARD MkII in this drone colour scheme https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/britain-launches-new-combat-drone-project/?!

Then there's weight of it, my references say it was 3900lb, which incidentally, was the weight of the RR Eagle. I'd say the Clyde would have been a better option, that engine only weighed 2300lb.

The Aeroclub Wyvern prop number is P106

Mustards have landed! Now finalizing profiles and instructions, and of course building one for display. Very pleased with CMR quality, they never disappoint. Plan view is now probably finished.

If Dominic wants to make it into a counter insurgency glider, dropping special forces behind enermy lines, who am I to argue!

Thanks,
Colin

Blimey Colin - you were paying attention to my random thoughts!  I'm thinking air-dropped in pairs in a variation of HAHO....  You could also probably get a search dog in there :tornado: .

BTW, if you don't hear from me ever again, you know that I've got a bit too close to reality  and I've been "disappeared"!

Always listening Dominic, but not always paying attention! Here is my hopefully nearly final drawing with panel detail added, with original drawing underneath.

Best of luck, I got his last one some years back.

Python Sea Fury thoughts:

It's all Zenrat's fault!

Mr Spackman: stop leading me down the Eternal Path of Diversions and Part Builds!

Kitnut617: having delved a little further into Clydes, Pythons, Centauruses and Griffons, I concur with your conclusions regarding Clyde over Python.  For starters, the latter is as you say half as heavy again as the former (I'd not realised the RR Eagle weighed pretty much the same as a Python; the Clyde was similar in weight to the Centaurus and Sabre).

Dominic: thanks for considering giving up an Aeroclub Wyvern prop set.

So I'm in a quandary - I do like the idea of a Python Fury (hmm, that sounds like Chris Eubank referring to a well-known heavyweight boxing champion from Manchester), it would certainly look a beast even if it probably wouldn't be a practical proposition in reality.  But having had a stab at an Eagle Sea Fury in the past I guess it could complete the set.

A Python Hawker P1030 would seem a better route to go, but as I keep putting off my P1030 build....

So thanks very much for the enthusiasm but I think I'll resist the temptation.  For now  ;)

KB - Sorry - No P106s in the stash.  I suppose one could be cobbled together from other bits / plasticard.   Dominic
