Quote from: kerick on November 07, 2022, 06:52:35 AMDo you know what the diameter should be for 1/72? RW or kit size would work for me. At least it looks like nice clean casting.

I can measure it when I get home tomorrow. Even the little ones looked nice and clean, DB do a great job of casting.

Quote from: Dizzyfugu on November 08, 2022, 04:25:40 AMIMHO the Heller donor is only worthwhile if you want the M look, but it has (some) weaknesses.

No, i really prefer the N look but i've solved the issue by buying the Italeri N kit. Heavy panel lines and all but at least they're engraved.

Which one?  There are a few.  I have the one with the roo-bar and two figures.

Today I went to checkout a newly opened Hobby Shop (Dandenong branch of Metro Hobbies).  It was very small without a lot of choice kit wise but it will be a usefull source of paints, glue, tools etc and I can get stuff I order from their website sent there for collection if I want (it's only a 35 minute drive).
Other than a couple of paints I also brought home an Airfix Beagle Basset. Whilst pondering colour schemes on the drive home the idea of doing it in Fields and Meadows popped into my head...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Bought some cheap kits mainly as spares from EvilBay. All in God's Own Scale, as usual:
- An Italeri Boeing X-32 JSF. No immediate plans, but if there ever was whif fodder, this is it.
- two Airfix Harrier GR.3's. While the kit to have really is the Esci/Italeri one, I got fed up with waiting, and I do have a good idea. And they came with good aftermarket weaponry..
- An Airfix Eurofighter EFA. Together with the old Airfix F-105, possibly the most inaccurate model I've seen, but, as Kit will be aware of, there is a very particular use for the jet exhausts.. Plus it came with extra German decals which I need badly for the current Luftwaffe spree I'm in.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Is that a special Australian edition then?  ;D

It's strange how a few pots of paint or glue always feel the need to be escorted to their new abode.

So it will accompany their Bulldog's when they stray farther from home then ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Just arrived In Stock at BNA Model World & just ordered:

2 x Airfix 1/48 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2 (AX12012) - 1 x RAN (anti-shipping), 1 x RAMs (tactical strike)

The price has gone up about 35%-40% :o since I requested notification of their arrival & I didn't have that much in the account but I had to have them  & found the money.

Not sure what to do with the old mould Airfix S.2 in the stash, now.

It's 15 mm across the very front face of the intake on the 1/72 scale part.

Quote from: Dizzyfugu on November 08, 2022, 01:24:06 AMI recommend the Academy kit. While the Heller M offers the square wings and the fin fillet, it has raised details and is IMHO not as crisp and easy to handle as the Academy P-47D.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dizzy!
I did realize that the changes needed to make the academy P-47D look like the N variant aren't many so I'll probably use that one.

While IMHO the Heller Jug is a poor kit, it's good whif donor potential.

As for raised details, use them as templates for scribing recessed panel lines or just sand them smooth.

No that's not it, it's the one with the three drivers,  rear indicator display and hose couplings.
